Hey all!

Recently had my medical (review coming soon - was really positive - the doctor and team were so friendly!) and was just looking over my vaccination worksheet and started getting worried that it might not be sufficient for the AOS stage?

I was told by the nurse that all my vaccinations were up to date but now i'm getting confused by these 'blanket waivers' she's put?

For example, i've got my MMR date noted on the form and there's nothing in the blanket waiver section - so all would seem that this is adequately completed? However, with Td I have the date noted in there but have the letter 'B' in the blanket waiver section... which apparently means 'insufficient time interval to complete series'?

Will this cause me issues at AOS stage? Will I have to get these vaccinations again at AOS?

Thanks!

That's just an oddity Knightsbridge does. It was explained to somebody on here several years ago that you "are never complete" because tetanus is boosted every 10 years. So they used to write in "due 10/5/2025" or something silly like that.

Your shot is marked with a date in the last 10 years presumably. It's also marked waived which means it's excused because it's too soon to get the next 10 year shot. Dumb, I know, but fine.

Slightly late reply here but wanted to say thanks @Wuozopo !

Will it still be excused for AOS or will I be expected to goto a civil surgeon again to confirm that it should still be waived due to insufficient time?

Cheers for the help!

The only answer I can give you is what the USCIS "rulebook" says. Unfortunately, your interviewer may or may not have studied his manual that well and could come up with a different random answer. People have experienced so many outcomes in their local offices that there is no guarantee.

If you are as complete as possible on the day of your visa medical, then that is supposed to be good for AOS. Any waivers are good for AOS if you got every shot needed (or waived) signed off.  If you left off a shot because you didn't want to get it, and it wasn't waived, then you weren't complete. By as complete as possible, some examples are:

  • You got a waiver for a shot for insufficient time interval because it wasn't medically possible to have another injection that day. You were as complete as possible and should not ever need to get that shot for immigration purposes.
  • You were pregnant at the visa medical and could not have the Rubella component of MMR, so MMR was waived. You do not have to go back after pregnancy and get it. You were as complete as possible and signed off with a waiver.

Remember waivers only work if ALL needed shots were on the form signed by Knightsbridge. If you chose to go back to your GP later or get the shot in the US, then you weren't complete at Knightsbridge. You would need a new sign off from a civil surgeon. He would waive only what was appropriate on the day at his office. If the time interval had passed or the person was no longer pregnant, then they would need the shots previously waived.

Does anyone know the list of required vaccinations for the medical?

It's on the London website.

Also Nich-Nick made a list for K1s. I will revise for CR1s. Yours are required before interview so a little different.

  • Td or Tdap - Tetanus/diptheria/pertussis or get DT, DTP or DtaP. The latest shot must be no longer than 10 years ago or you need a booster. If you have a record of receiving pertussis, then the Td is okay for the booster.
  • MMR - (if born in 1957 or later)-Mumps/measles/rubella. It's two doses in your life, but if you get the first dose, and 4 weeks haven't passed by your medical, they will waive the second dose for "insufficient time interval". If you only had one dose as a child, get a second one before the medical.
  • Varicella - Not routinely given in the UK . A history of having chickenpox excuses you from the shot. They take your word for it at the visa medical exam. For CR 1 they will also give a waiver for "not routinely available" so you won't need varicella at your London interview. You have two ways to get a waiver.
  • Influenza – Required during flu season only, October 1 through March 31. Get to Knightsbridge before Oct 1 and you get to skip the flu jab.

Marvellous. Thank you for your message.

For some reason I thought Hep A, Hep B, Rotavirus, PCV and MenC were all required! You've saved me some money - we'll only need the flu jabs :) x

Only if you're 18 or less. See the age requirements on the website. You get a waiver for all those you mentioned for "not age appropriate".
