I just saw the fingerprint thing as well. Given the way this stuff goes, can anyone really say they’re surprised with something changing that can hold us all up longer...? 😭

I hope so, what a bunch of malarky....

I dont even have case complete yet so my interview date will probably be a few months yet. i just might go ahead and get that one done now just incase they pull a fast one on me at the interview lol.  You never know.  Better be safe than sorry.  Sigh.... Here goes more money out the window.

WTH. It says "As of September 10, 2018", I submitted my docs to NVC on August 29, so I don't think it applies to me. But, since I'll have my interview after September 10, it might as well apply to me. I am confused if this applies to folks like me who submitted their police certificate before September 10. This is bollocks!

@NikLR, @Ontarkie, @pushbrk I wonder what you guys think?

Contact NVC and ask them directly.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...

Here's my timeline. Our case is fairly simple. Collecting these documents has been a pain in the butt. My lawyer mailed a bunch of stuff to which I found out that the NVC would promptly be returning, so from there I began doing my own filing. So it delayed us a bit, but hopefully not too far off from the rest of this group. Hoping for Montreal!

  • NVC received - 2018-07-30
  • Paid IV fee - 2018-07-31
  • Paid AOS fee - 2018-07-31
  • Pointless waiting for a month due to bad advice 😕
  • Submitted DS-260 - 2018-08-27
  • Submitted AOS - 2018-08-30
  • All submitted to NVC ............waiting on the police certificate, then everything will be submitted

Seriously, could have been done with this by now, but we received some bad advice from the lawyer. It's cool. Waiting is the name of the game.

Yes, we did. They said about 2 weeks for it to get to Ottawa and be processed and returned to BC. I read that privacy act thing, mercifully, just yesterday. He went to get it today! Good luck to you as well!

Okay guys, here’s what we’ve got!

  • Married - 11-09-2017
  • I-130 sent - 12-20-2017
  • I-130 NOA1 - 12-22-2017
  • I-130 approved - 7-16-2018
  • Sent to NVC - 7-17-2018
  • NVC received - 7-19-2018
  • Paid IV fee - 8-14-2018
  • Paid AOS fee - 8-14-2018
  • Submitted DS-260 - 8-16-2018
  • AOS submitted to NVC - 8-16-2018
  • Case Reviewed - 8-29-2018
  • Submitted corrected docs - 8-30-2018

Our case is a little different as they never fully finalized our civil docs section when they reviewed our stuff on 8/29. I received the incorrect forms notice, but they never accepted or rejected any of the docs in the civil docs section. AOS docs were approved and accepted no problem. I went ahead and submitted the two corrected docs in the supporting section and resubmitted. After speaking with several people at the NVC, our case has been flagged for a supervisor review. I was asked to call back on a Friday if I haven’t seen an approval before then. Since they did not finalize the civil docs section, we are technically falling under the three week window for when we originally submitted the docs the first time. The officers can see where we actually should have received a cc on 8/23 and been able to upload docs later as our only issues were one silly doc turned sideways on me and I failed to combine the birth certificate and translation together (I submitted them separately). Unfortunately they can’t help us much more than they already have because we’re still in the original 3 week window. So now we wait...

Where in Florida are you guys moving to?

It will be to southern Florida on the Golf coast side. We lived in Naples Florida before (only for 2 1/2 months) where my Father-in-law also lived. We know the city well and feel very comfortable there. It broke our hearts to have to move back to Canada but it was a life & death situation and there were a few other complications that arose at that time. My father-in-law has since passed away and the house he and we also lived in has been sold.

So, to make a long story short, everything is fine now and we want to go back there to live. We don’t now exactly the address or city we will live in. Our 1st choice is Naples but real estate is a little expensive there. We are also looking up the coast in Estero, Cape Coral and Sarasota. We have a plan on what communities, areas to look for a house and who to contact when we arrive. We’re looking forward to our trip as this is a one more step closer to living there. We are also going to look at buying a car (we know what we want) and arrange or make inquiries on what else we can do while we are down there.

What??? That’s awesome! I live in North Port and work in Sarasota! I lived in Cape Coral for a bit and loved it. North Port is great as well, but you’re a bit farther from the bigger cities with around a 45 minute drive. Sarasota can be a bit pricey as well depending on what part of town you’re looking at...

I also just became aware of this from reading it on another thread. I agree about the money thing. I just went and got my Police Certificate (name search only) about a week ago and it cost $76.00. I guess I will be going back and spending more money for the Finger Print search which really is only about 20mins away from me. Just one more thing on the list of things to do. 😡 It will all be worth it in the end when we are all living in the USA. 😊

I have to share this with my husband ! What a coincidence or maybe it’s not. What a small world we live in. Yes, we noticed Sarasota is a little expensive but we are still looking there, we are trying to make an informed decision. We are flying into Orlando in less than 2 weeks will be looking in the Orlando area as well. Honestly though we prefer to live in south Florida along the west coast, it’s feels more like home just thinking about it.

How is the Algae problem, recently in the news, around the cities I mentioned ? We heard it was, at least a few weeks ago very bad air quality and some people had breathing issues. Hope everything is Ok after tropical storm Gordon has passed. It’s really bad news about the child was killed in the Florida Panhandle area. Is it Ok if we ask you more questions since you are there now ? We will understand if you don’t want to.
