Hi. I read you don't need to translate the beneficiary's birth certificate for the embassy appointment in Bogota, Colombia. However, I read that I will need the translation for the green card process. 

1) How many copies should I translate?

2) Can the birth certificate be translated by any official translator or does the embassy have specific ones?

Since your consulate is Colombia, maybe you can take a look at this thread or contact any of these members that may be able to help you.
