Hi everyone !

I need your opinion, regarding our situation.
My fiancé and I, have been together for over 7 years, he first came to France to complete his master and at the same time to find out, if living together was working out for us.
Five years have passed now, and we are considering on moving back to the USA. We checked our options and the fiancé visa seems to be our best option, as we never got married, here in France.
The question is, is it possible for us to start and/or wait for the process of the K1 visa, while my US citizen fiancé still lives and works in France ?

Yes.

But don't do it.

Get married in France (since you're living there together anyway) and go with the spouse visa. It's cheaper and only a little longer than K1. It has other advantages but I'm sure you can find other threads where those visas were compared. Many times.

You still need to proof US domicile and show your US tax returns.
