We should receive our NOA2 next week or the next. I am trying to get things together and be prepared. I have been previously married and know that I need my original divorce papers but do I need my original marriage license to my ex? What other documents will I need? I know that they will give me a specific list but I am just wanting to know in general what was required to bring.

Congratulations on your upcoming approval. The checklist that you get from the usembassy.gov website is very clear and to the point. You should start there first, then come back and fill in the gaps with this forum or other websites.

I’m asking because I am the petitioner. I am wanting to know if my fiancé will need original copies of my old marriage license and my original copy of divorce decree when he goes to the interview. I gave both to the Catholic Church for my previous marriage to become annulled. If I am going to need them for sure I need to go ahead and try to get them.

Not to sound harsh but don’t be upset if you don’t get an approval when you’re expecting it. USCIS is not exactly punctual. Unless you got a text saying you were approved and you’re just waiting for the letter in the mail you might still be waiting a while. With that said, you also may not get anything from the embassy. They’re not exactly rules following people either. Immigration processes are more like do it yourself kind of thing and if you don’t you’re screwed. I suggest checking the guideline on VJ for K1 visa and looking to see what the next general steps are. Then go over to the embassy website for your country and search for K1 visa and you will find a list of all documents and following steps. Every embassy is different so you really have to go by what the website says and you can always check the country specific forums of this website for more specific information as you’re gathering documents.

Better to prepare everything that you will  need and yes including your divorced papers and these from you as the petitioner.

🌸New Letter of Intent(Updated Date)

🌸Form I-134 Affidavit of Support

🌸Form 1040 Income Tax Return(Latest)

     (Prepare atleast the last 3years)

🌸W2 Withholding Tax Statement(Latest)

🌸Paystub within the last 3months

🌸Certificate of Employment

Optional:

🌸NOA1(Copy)

🌸NOA2(Copy)

🌸NVC Letter

As what TNJ17 mentioned above, you can also refer to your Specific embassy for your other needed requirements. Goodluck and my warmest congratulations to you in advance on your approval. ❤️
