To echo other’s comments: @iipenny you are absolutely entitled to use your expired green card and I-797 extension letter when you start a new job. Indeed, it would be unlawful for an employer to deny you employment for that reason. I guess it is an uncommon scenario, but that should not be your problem. My own employer didn’t understand these rules despite having 120,000 employees. D’oh.

 

That being said, if state ID and your SSN make your new employer’s HR folks happy? Sure, okay. Most importantly: all the best at your new job. ^)^

Im a 751 Vermont September 2018 filler. I sent my package on 17th September 2018, it was delivered on 20th September. Check cashed. 5 week after, I received 18months extension in mail, I never received biometric appointment letter since then. It's about 60days ago,both biometric. Is it normal for me to travel out for few weeks without biometric appointment? Is there anyone with similar experience?

I don’t think any of the September filers have had biometrics. I sent my file 9/14 received on 9/17. Check cashed 9/21. Received NOA 10/25.

My case number didn't work still. No biometric letter here. However, I got an email from USCIS a couple days ago saying " We are still reviewing your case and there are no updates at this time. We will notify you when your case status changes. We last took action on your case on November 1, 2018 "

I had mine last month. From other threads its my understanding that biometrics is not requested if they have it on file. It looks like uscis keeps it on file for two years.
