Omg yes yes yes! Its there!!! Took 6 days from delivery to text. Thats so fast. Got MSC and WAC number. I sent with FedEx to Phoenix.

 

Now the big waiting game has officialy begun

Congrats..!!

 

I seriously think there is a need to worry about my application now.. Something might have went wrong, no update, no notification, no check cashed.. 

Giving one more day, first thing tomorrow would be calling USCIS

Did you check your spam folder? I didn’t see my e-mail until later because it was in spam.

Receipt number hasn’t been working since I received it and no NOA in the mail either. I am not concerned tho. My case #s didn’t work right away either during AOS.

I hope you receive yours soon Goldfish123!!  Thank you Miki28 for mentioning the spam folder thats where my email was. Apparently mine has been sent to California. I made a mistake in my previous post i dont have MSC number that was a 2016 text from USCIS. I misread. Here is the email.

Im confused.. I thought California was extremely backlogged and thats why they changed locations? From what ive read im looking at 18 to 24 months processing?

Every application should be front loaded to avoid any potential issue down the line.  Innocent mistakes happen which is why USCIS gives a 3 month window prior to the expiration of the conditional green card so applicants can begin prepping their applications early.

 

With the new changes, it's the officer's discretion whether or not they send you an RFE or they deny the application outright.

 

In the end it'll be based on the weight of your application and all previous representations.  You may get lucky and a birth certificate and mortgage is enough in your case.

 

I would wait to see if they issue you a USCIS number.  When they do, call the main USCIS number and ask where you can send the additional evidence.  Typically they'll tell you to wait until an RFE is issued but sometimes you can get a tier two officer whose helpful.  It's luck of the draw though.  Wishing you both luck and I'll have my fingers crossed for you!

What's happening right now is someone in a mail room is opening the files, making sure they are signed and that you are filing within the correct window of time and cashing the check. No one is combing through the files deep enough to make an RFE vs NOID decision. If so, there wouldn't be a ~18 month wait for ROC, you'd have a decision in a week or so. 

 

In addition, they claim that this change is to avoid people filing the bare minimum (to get through this stage) to "hold their place in line" while they gather other evidence and wait for an RFE. In practice, I think that this will result in a lot of headache and drama for some people, as I'm sure not all employees will understand this change/ will want to send NOIDs to save themselves time/ clear cases/ just because of personal feelings/ whatever. Either way, we're not at that stage just yet.

I too feel thats how they are working..

Bold-- thats my fear.. i remember i signed form, filled correctly, placed check, signed check , so what is that they held my application without cashing the check and proceeded with other applications in line:(

It is how they're working  I know this very well from both my experience with the I-129f and through some things related to my job.

 

They don't work in strict chronological order, either. They get hundreds if not thousands of petitions for all sorts of processes every day,  sometimes things are a day or two faster/slower here or there. 

 

What could possibly happen (and it is not a disaster if it does), is somehow your check became unattached from your file or maybe you didn't sign something or put a date somewhere. What would happen then is they send the file back to you and you make whatever corrections are needed/ write a new check/ whatever. That's not an RFE or denial, that's not even putting you in line to get to that point. But you're nowhere near needing to worry about that yet.

@Alimanu is correct. I see so many tensed folks here. Its just a Government process. USCIS is not a machine, they are humans just like us and they dont have any personal grudge against immigrants that they'll deny without a cause. So please go on with your regular schedule , in the end you'll end up worrying for absolutely nothing and wont get your daily job done. I remember that my AOS took 13 months with interview as I work in the technology domain so there was a background check. I had 221Gs placed on my F1 visa whenever I went back to get my visa stamped due to my area of work and being from a Technology Alert List country. Always got it thru
