Oh ok..

So just a bit confused.. is the form 1-797 same as extension letter? or that will be a separate letter along with the 1-797 or they''ll send the extension letter later?

Yes. The I-797 is going to be your extension letter. My friend showed me copy of hers and first sentence was it was extension for a year but then she got second letter saying due to processing delays they are extending it for 18 months instead of 12. She also got another letter few months letter for biometrics. But I have heard some people never had to go and got card in the mail.

My package was received last Monday , check has not been cashed yet  

hoping for an update atleast by the end of this week..

I am hoping to get the I-797 this week. I will keep y’all posted. I got email & text on the 20th last week. So hopefully the letter comes in mail this week.  I haven’t checked the money order.

Im happy to hear people are getting their texts/emails from USCIS. Hoping to get mine this week. Me and my wife will be moving to Seattle for 3 months. I wont be home to pick up mail. We might drive down for the mail in a month or two but it would calm me down a lot knowing the case is received.

You might want to check your mail more often or have it forwarded. At least for VSC, the biometrics letter seems to arrive within 4-5 weeks of NOA1.

I would set up forwarding mail thru USPS. It’s free and easy to set up. We have done it multiple times (my husband is military so we move a lot)

We have roommates who hopefully can do that or text me a pic of the letter. I gave em permision to open it. Also have USPS informed delivery so i'll be checking the app daily to see whats coming in the mail.

 

What happens if you miss your biometrics appointment? Its always possible things get lost in the mail and you never receive it.

Unfortunately we can't because our roommates also receive mail there. Gonna be checking the USPS informed delivery app daily haha. Have my roommate open it and texting me a pic of the letter. Keeping my fingers crossed ill get the text or email this week though.

I think they would still deliver his mail, it’s forwarded based on last name. I would double check with the USPS but no matter what you so I hope that works out for you just fine!! Good luck!
