@Bugg Gee....your AOS experience was a nightmare. Sorry about that. Geez.

Good that you did not need to do an interview for the ROC. Kool.

Hopefully the N-400 interview will be a real breeze for you, like it was for us.

Good luck with that.

Our only snag was at the final interview for the CR-1 in Manila.

Had to do with domicile.

Since my spouse had multiple residences, the IO could not really tell where he was to be considered domiciled for Dept of State purposes.

(Spouse had maintained residences in multiple countries, and run multiple companies. And he had just returned from our NYC place to our Manila place, and missed voting in the election that month because he had not planned to vote absentee. Luckily it got sorted out when he shared an email from the White House asking him to consider a position there. Got the CR-1 visa two days later. Yeah, my hubby roles like that - a Major Dude! Even with that delay, we got the visa in four weeks - would have been in two weeks otherwise, we estimate.)

Glad your husband was able to present that email so that everything would go through.

I'm hoping mine will be a breeze considering the various times I've been vetted by the feds due to my previous legal work.

@Bugg Thanks.

Yeah, you are almost there.

You filed N-400 two months after us, so you are tracking well, I think.

You waited till after green card, and we filed while pending.

We got our card right after filing. Not sure why - Were we coming up on it anyway, or did the N-400 have an impact. Might never know.

Our citizenship oath ceremony has been scheduled. Waiting for the letter to see when it will be.

Hang in there. You, too, are plenty close.

(Yeah, and my hubby worked for/with Wall Street law firms, investment banks, national regulators, etc., etc. for decades)

(Typo earlier - "roles" should have been "rolls".)

Profile pic - Rainbow Tower of the Hilton Hawaiian Village - Waikiki, Honolulu, Hawaii.

Why this for the profile pic?  Often in movies and on TV when they show Hawaii they show this beach/view. So, instead of doing Kauai or some other locale, we decided to do here, so that whenever some show shows Hawaii and this view, we will see where we were married.

I have not received an update about my application since October 2019, so I decided to call the USCIS line to see if they had an update. The person on the phone noticed that my case was already taking longer than the usual time for the Texas Service Center. The agent told me he would send a notice to the local field office...

I just received the letter I attached.

What are your thoughts on this?

We are in the same situation, except we got an email just stating what's been sitting on the case. We called last week and was told to wait a few more days as the processing time is 18.5. We are at 18 months and 10 days if we count from the day of receipt. We are at Potomac and waiting is becoming our friend.

I received my Permanent Resident Card yesterday! :joy:

The only thing is that they clearly did not take my letter into consideration since it still has my married name on it. I will have to file for a replacement card to get my maiden name on the card. I got divorced in February 2019 and changed my name back, so that needs to be updated. I send a letter with the divorce papers and a letter back in March of 2019, but it seems nothing has been done with that.

If anyone wants help by the way when it comes to this process or when it comes to sending documents if you got a divorce while lifting the conditions, let me know and I will be more than happy to help you. We are all in this together!

I will update my timeline now.

Good day Adipo21,

How are you?

I wrote a letter to USCIS and I included the following:

•    Divorce Decree dated February 28th, 2019

•    Couple Counseling evidence
•    Affidavits from ex mother in law and 2 friends
•    Joint Tax Transcripts for 2018

I can send you my letter, so you have an example, but I will send it in a DM.

Let me know if you have any other questions and you can DM me for that letter.

Thanks!

After we sent in a case status outside of normal processing request we got a response that we are waiting to be scheduled for an interview. Is that a generic response or does it mean we are close to getting an interview?

If you have a pending N-400 then my assumption is that your I-751 is right now tied up with your N-400 and your N-400 is in queue for interview to be scheduled. If no, then most likely it means that they need to interview you before they approve your case; usually is the case for random auditing or they need additional evidence before approving.

I am awaiting a response on my Service Request that I raised for outside of normal processing case, will post once it is answered. Mine is pending for about a month; How long did they take to answer you request?

We have an N-400 pending. So sounds like you are right. Response was the third week. So does that mean we got out of the I-751 processing line and had to go to the back of the N-400 when we filed, or the N-400 is tagging onto the I-751?

Think about it more like I-751 processing time are not really being followed as you have N-400 in processing; I-751 information was shared with local office and your local field office will usually club them. Most of the ones that have their I-751 currently pending is most likely because their local offices have high N-400 loads. Of course there are some exceptions to this.

Congratulations! I am a divorce waiver for SRC as well but filed November 2019. I see some people from April 2019 (SRC) get approved but did see your case and another divorce case be approved from the fourth quater 2018 SRC time frame. Do you believe the divorce cases are taking longer? Can you please share hw long you were married and how long you were married after the conditional GC? Can you please share your letter in a DM as well

Hi PolarPear,

I do think the divorce cases take a little longer indeed.

I was married for just over 2.5 years and I was married for about 2 years after the conditional GC. I will DM you what I send to the USCIS.

I hope that is helpful!

I couldn't wait and called in to check on my pending I-751 and this is what I got as the reply " On August, 2019, you also filed a Form N-400, Application for Naturalization.  Our records indicate that your Form I-751 and Form N-400 are currently pending and will be adjudicated at the same time.

On March 18, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services temporarily suspended routine in-person services to help slow the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19). USCIS plans to begin reopening our offices on May 4, unless the public closures are extended further. USCIS staff are continuing to perform duties that do not involve contact with the public.  However, USCIS will provide emergency services for limited situations. To schedule an emergency appointment, contact the USCIS Contact Center."
