How I met my wife

I met my wife online through a marriage website, Muslima.com

 

In the cover letter I provided to USCIS for my I-130 application I stated in the introduction that we met through family friends.  I am unsure why I put that... some friends warned it could be difficult if we state we met online for Morocco embassy.

 

Now I have two options:

 

1) Revise the cover letter and state that we met online.  And my wife will take that with her to the interview and present it to the CO.

2) My wife will continue on in the interview and state that we met through a family friend. 

 

Can I get opinions please?

what ever you do dont not LIE or changing facts ...  because if the CO found that as red flag and you are lying it will be a big problem

its okay to meet online but to prove thats you got a ponafieda must do visiting much you can ..etc

The problem is I already basically lied in the letter I provided to USCIS. I said that we met through a family friend. But we really met online.

 

My wife's interview is soon. I'm debating I'd I should revise the letter and have her take it with her to the interview, and say that we met online. We just made a mistake on the letter.

 

I'm not worried too much about bonafide because we lived together for a year overseas, and I also visited her in Morocco a few months ago with my mom.

My wife and I met 3 years ago online via Muslima.com.  We lived together for 1 year in Qatar before I accepted a job back in the States.  When I was applying for the I-130 visa, I also submitted a cover letter.  In the cover letter I stated that my wife and I met through a family friend.

 

I am having reservations now about what my wife should say when she is asked how we met in the interview.  Two options:

 

1) A family friend told my husband about my profile on Muslima.com and we connected that way. (My wife's response)

2) Simply met through a family friend. I.e. two mothers spoke and then my wife and I were connected through WhatsApp.

 

Can anyone chime in on this topic?

Which one of the above is true? That's the only correct answer.

  1. You met through a family friend.
  2. You met through Muslima.com.
    1. A friend told your husband about your online profile? That's kinda odd...?

Sounds like the answer is #2 (met through Muslima.com).

Never lie. Past lies are just something you'll have to deal with, but there's always the opportunity for the truth moving forward.

As others have said, just the truth.

 

Our personally story can be confusing because I was introduced to my wife via a colleague at work who has a sister in law that my wife took aerobic class with. It was the sister in law that really was helping my wife look for a partner.

 

I was with my wife during her K1 interview and was given the opportunity to better to the CO how we met.

She should state how she met. If questioned why this doesn't match the letter, then just admit it was incorrect.

Correct.  This is the problem with lying.  There is no way to acceptably or honorably "explain" a lie.  You just tell the truth.  Explaining a lie with another lie, just compounds the problem.

 

Could the "friend" be the person who told you about muslima.com perhaps?

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...
