Hey guys

Relatively new to the forum! I’m at my wits end with this paperwork!

My story:

In Minnesota

Filed I-485, I-131, I-785 on September 12

Received on September 14

Biometrics completed on October 8

All cases are MSC - National Benefits Center

And I’ve heard nothing since 🙄

Stupidly booked to go on holiday with my husbands family next month for a destination wedding, doesn’t look so hopeful now.

Hmph!

What date does your NOA1 have? If it's 9/14 you can request an inquiry on your EAD/AP since you're outside normal processing times.

Hopefully you'll get your card before your vacation, but if not try to see if you can postpone or cancel and refund the location.

Yeah, it said 9/14.  I opened up a service request on Monday.  They said they would get back to me by 3/26.  Doesn’t leave me much time after that to sort it out.

I reached out to my local congressman’s office today and the lady within the immigration services department said she would also send a inquiry and try and get things moving as quick as she can.  In the meantime she said she could try and help me get an emergency travel document valid for one use.

Fingers crossed 🤞🏼

Everything sorted for you?

Hello everybody, natural lurker here to share some information that might be helpful to the lovely community here.

We submitted our i-485 in mid to late September 2018 after our court marriage in early September. We are based in Los Angeles and just finished our Green Card interview this very morning (3/6/19, 5 month turnaround) at the San Bernardino USCIS Field Office. We are very happy to announce that they approved us on the spot and the case is updated to show that our Green Card is now being produced.

Although having applied for the AP/EAD card, there has been absolutely zero progress on that front... but we're relieved to know that we are finally finished with this long journey for now. So the absolute first thing I did after getting the news was to check for flight tickets to send my wife back to her family. So I do want to ask if it will be safe enough to go ahead and book it now before the card arrives. I'm looking to book 2-3 weeks out, judging on some of the timelines I've seen around here. The officer did say it might take up to 30 days, but regardless we feel blessed to have such a quick turnaround.

Much love to everyone in this community, I wish everyone the best of luck on their AOS!

although I’d love to say it’s safe. I will say my opinion on the safer side of things and tell you possible problems: card not reaching in time, card having a mistake on it etc these are some problems I came across so far reading this forum. I’d wait till card is in my hands to make a reservation.

Hi Naes, I am so pleased you are getting the card soon, I am sure we all feel the same when we get our cards, on one hand relief we have it, but a little guilt that others are still waiting. So next your driving test and buying a car and finding a job?

Hello everyone!

Just to update everyone who might be in the same boat as us. For our EAD/AP combo card. The new website never updated, but the old website updated and we received our NOA2 via post. I called USCIS customer service today and spoke with a representative and she informed us that according to her info, we still had not received an approval and we are outside the initial 4-6 month processing times. I am a little confused about this but we did receive a conformation number and hopefully within the next 30 days, we will see some sort of movement on this section of our journey .

Note: I am also a Sept. 4th filer....

Alex received his EAD card this past Monday! We're thrilled. He already had an interview and was hired on the spot at Costco, which is a dream for us.

Now to wait on our scheduling for the green card. We didn't apply for AP because we have no funds for him to leave the country right now anyway.

I can't really address the SSC because my husband combo card had to be sent back b/c his last name was spelled incorrectly. It should match each other though, SSC and combo card.

It's all up to you on how you want to handle the driving. My husband had a driver's license from his country but he doesn't like MD roads and the fact that I stress him out when he is behind the wheel. In order for him to get his MD driver's license he had to take a 3 hour course and pay the fee. In the class they talked about rules and regulations for United States driving. Hope this helps.

I'll probably just take him night driving first and then ease him into city driving. It's more a case of I have to get him used to driving automatic cars. He's driven a manual all his life and I learned the hard way that he treats my brake like a clutch

For his SSC, i think it may have been a space issue. There is a lot on the card already. As for driving, he is legally able to drive in the UK, just no experience driving in the US. All that he needs to get his US license is to take the 3 hour drug and alcohol course. I found something online that should help him with our rules and regulations in case the 3 hour doesn't cover it and from there he just needs to get used to my car.

I received my combo card today. I am so disappointed though because my last name is not hyphenated like I asked on the form and told USCIS numerous times. Now on the phone with USCIS and got told I would have to reapply. It could take another 5months. And now can't travel to see my ailing mother who has stage 4 cancer. I wanna cry.

Hope they can do something for you! Emergency AP is for emergencies only, but maybe they actually have some power to get USCIS grant you one anyway. Hope you'll have some good news in the next few days!

My EAD/AP got approved about a month ago, got my card about 3 weeks ago. I'm working a temp job right now, but am still in the process of finding a steady job that I like! Fingers crossed I'll get hired soon somewhere

That sucks, but is it a name discrepancy? In that case you'd have to send the card back since it's their fault, and they should sent you a new one asap.

If not, just let it go. It's so stupid of them to tell you that you need to re-apply!

Once you get your GC interview you can ask the officer to hyphenate your name on the GC.

Ask for an emergency AP. Talk to your local congressman/women.
