Hi everyone. I would like to ask during your interview (for AOS), did they ask about proof or evidences of your residency?

Yes. One of the first things the gentleman asked for was proof of residce. We had mail with both of our names on it, and a rental agreement.

Husband got his SSC in the mail yesterday and his combo card last Saturday! I have 3 questions though:

1.) Should we be worried that on his combo card they only included one of his middle initials? Nope, mine also only has the initial of one of my middle names on it. Prob they couldn't get more on the card lol.

2.) Should we be worried that on his SSC it only has his first and last name, no middle names? What did he put on the form when applying for SSC? My first, 2 middle and last name are on my SSC, so I would check up with SSN office (they have a national number you can call)

3.) Does anyone have any tips on how to go about learning to drive in the US? Hubby wants to go through a driving school to learn the laws here. He has a valid license from the UK but hasn't driven much here. (I'm a bit too nervous about letting him drive around the DC-MD-VA area). Are there special classes for international drivers or will he just have to get used to the roads on his own? Is he legally allowed to drive with his UK DL? If so, just let him drive around (if you feel more comfortable sit next to him) and he should read the road manual of your state (he needs to do this anyway for his written test)

I drove around for about 6 months with my Dutch license, it helped a lot to have the experience of driving here before taking the test.

If he feels more comfortable taking driving classes he can, but most states don't require that when you already have an international license and/or are over the age of 21.

I'll finally be able to file my taxes now though, and based on what I've read, it seems the best way to do it is just mail them in this year instead of online like I always do.

I just received my SSC today (7 working days after I received my combo card). Is it normal/ok that they didnt put my middle initial or my middle name in the card?

What did you fill out on the form when requesting SSN? Mine has my first, both middle names and last name on it (I went to the SSO in person before my I-94 expired), so you could check up if this is normal (someone else asked the same question right before you did, you can call their national #)

I didn’t even call them yet. I only sent the online inquiry. Which I’m sure had no affect at all.

I can’t tell you “don’t worry” cause I was going crazy too.. but it comes eventually... after it wrecks the heck out of you 😢

I applied it thru the EAD because when I went to SSO I ended up getting a call from them that DHS can’t verify my documents.

I’m thinking maybe because my name’s too long that’s why they didn’t include my middle name.

I’ll just try calling them, thank you!

Hi guys :)

how long did It take after the ead approval to have the card in the mail ?

Hi, it took about 5 days for the card to be changed to "card has been mailed" for us. After the initial approval app update, the status changed to card is being produced and stayed there for 2 days, after those 2 days it changed to in the mail. However, the status wasn't accurate. When I called to get tracking info the day it changed, they couldnt provide it because in fact it wasn't shipped yet. A day later though I called again and got the tracking, took 3 days in the mail for us. So in total about 7 business days from EAD approval to Card in hand.
