Hello everyone my husband had his biometrics done on 12/31 and nothing has been updated online or on the App. Should I be worried?

Nope. The case status websites/apps are notorious for not updating.

EAD/AP takes 4 to 6 months with most being approved in 5.5 months lately.

I485 timelines are dependent on your Local Field Office. Some LFOs take a few months while others take years.

If you scroll through this thread you will see links to how to figure out what is your LFO and how to check your LFOs estimated processing times.

Received date: 09/12/2018

NOA date: 09/18/2018

New card is being produced: 02/07/2019

My UCSIS account (my.uscic.gov) still says 'fingerprint review completed' but the 2 apps I have on my phone both say 'new card is being produced'. My 129F got updated online about a month after my approval, so idk how accurate that is. But I'm pretty ecstatic! Hopefully I have my combo card soon! (AP still says case received, that's prob never gonna change lol)

Btw, the update is visible on the old USCIS website (https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/landing.do)

I would have to disagree but I'm only one person. I just filed my taxes and we filed jointly. I was convincing myself to file separately as well but if (me) still in the process of adjustment of status. we have to show we are indeed in a bona fide marriage so having married filing jointly is beneficial to me.

ok great. can you tell us exactly what you filed? like what form? did you include worldwide income? where did you exclude it?

Just to add on the tax conversation. I found these links pretty helpful.

https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tips/family/claiming-a-non-citizen-spouse-and-children-on-your-taxes-/L6VM4IzTQ

https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tips/general/tax-tips-for-resident-and-non-resident-aliens/L9Mm0x1i6

I also talked to a TurboTax CPA and they said if your spouse qualifies as a resident alien then you can file jointly and claim their worldwide income in the "other income, foreign income" section. This is self reported as an overseas company won't have U.S. tax forms. Unfortunately to use TurboTax for this you have to pay for one of their higher tier options.

Hi,

I would like some advice regarding taking a lawyer for the green card process. My husband is thinking of taking a lawyer for the process but I did the K1 process by myself and would like to know opinions to make a decision.

K1 is wayyyyyy more difficult. Way more evidence needed to provide for the petition and interview for K1.

For AOS everything is just brought to the intrview and it's just very basic documents.

Do it yourself.

State ID/DL is usually very difficult to get as most require an EAD or GC (which ever comes first). That varies by state though but it is totally normal to "not exist" until your immigration status has changed. Join the club.
