It can be a few things. But, first you need to think through your application. Did you miss any documents. Did you begin an application and submit it with a larger then normal set of missing documents. (USCIS frowns on this as they view it as a place holder application with the applicant later on submitting the missing documents). I don't think you are going to get an answer that can tell you with any certainty because USCIS "letter" is very vague until you get the actual letter in the mail.

We did not receive any RFE but we both failed to include our letters of intent and we didn’t provide pictures.  

 

I did not find this website until after we filed our petition so we were both unaware.  It was our fault for not researching it further and rushing the process.

 

we hope for the best but we are expecting the worst.

If they have contacted you it would have been by mail and that is described as a RFE, request for evidence of which your letter of intent falls under. It happens all the time. You'll be fine if you send them what they are requiring from the RFE.

Still nothing. I am not waiting to hear anything till maybe end if month. My rfe package was pretty big.

I have not received the official notice but when I called USCIS to get a status update through the automated system it just said we sent an i-797 notice of action on April 5th.  It doesn’t specify which form A-F so it was no help.  I will call and speak to an agent tomorrow to see if they can clarify for me so I know what to expect.

I797 are NOA's. Are you expecting a NOA2 sometime soon? This could be it as it is dated 4/5.

I am waiting on my NOA2.  No RFE’s prior to this and no status update except for when I received an email about the “notice explaining USCIS actions was mailed” on April 5th.

 

I am hoping to receive the official notice tomorrow or Friday.

 

Will a USCIS agent be able to tell me exactly what I am receiving in the mail?

I accidentally replied to wrong comment but I haven’t received official notice in the mail (snail mail bites).  USCIS Automated System stated they sent me an I-797 notice of action.

It is ok. I hope you hear good news. Keep us posted. And try to call them and ask to speak with tier 2 and she or he would be able to tell you what you are expecting in the mail. Just ask them what is that I am receiving. Is that an approval? And they should be able to answer you. Good luck.
