I could not fine the answer online.

Are they going to send me my package back because I wrote USCIS instead of Homeland Security on Money order???

The process of gathering the evidences for ROC was so long and difficult that I realized 2 hours after mailing the petition.

I would suspect to see your entire package rejected and returned.....Immigration forms and instructions are almost always to be followed  literally.

It is probably coming back to you because they won't be able to even deposit it in the account because it doesn't match the account name on record. I have a personal account, and a business account, actually multiple personal, but I know the banks are really a stickler on the checks I deposit to my business account, even though I am the Owner, I cannot deposit a check written out to me personally, has to have the business name on it. Now, in all honestly they submit the checks electronically, so the bank just gets the numbers off the bottom of the check or money order, so they could process the payment, and it would go thru electronically, but if there is ever an audit, or the bank actually requests the physical check or money order whoever submitted it or allowed it to happen will be out a real nice easy government job, but if you get lucky and catch someone who didn't have their coffee that morning maybe it will slip by, but I think your odds are better at picking a winning lottery ticket up.

I just talked to an immigration attorney and he said that I should be fine even though the money order was not made out to Homeland Security. It's just one opinion though

 

I am filing with a divorce waiver and was waiting to have the judgment of dissolution to file. My green card is expiring on Sunday and I've been stressing a lot.

 

I read that there wasn't really a deadline and late applications were acceptable for those filing with a divorce decree. I don't know if it's true. I'm just hoping, in case they send me back the whole package late and that I am not able to send it back by Sunday.

 

I will definitely let you guys know, it could help people who made the same mistake. Fingers crossed.

Just an update on this topic.

 

My money order has been cashed so I guess they have accepted to study my case. I feel so relieved. One lawyer told me it wouldn't a problem but I've been stressing since I sent the package. I would look at my mail box from far away when pulling in everyday expecting my whole package back. But it's a good lesson for the future, to follow instructions and double check. I was going through so much back then, divorce, moving to a new house, kids back to school that I just wanted to get done with the paper work.

 

I'm just waiting for their conformation to renew my documents.
