anyone who is waiting nvc number and is needing to schedule medical currently the earliest appointment is Nov 1st.

I think when I called it was about 1pm in the afternoon and got through on the third time. I have such bad anxiety even with small things like making phone calls, so I imagine it’s going to be fun when I get there 😂 . Ugh... glad she managed to book an appointment for a suitable time tho 👍👍

I'd call right at 7am est if I were u. Seems to be best time and longest call for me at that time was 3:17

press 1 then 2

no need to listen to all the gibberish.

noa1 date is actually they date on ur hard copy. Sadly if u reach the magical 220 day u must wait till 225 to contact Uscis. They use what the new site says. Even if ur paper says X date.

They added 5 days onto everyone’s accepted on NOA1

We got our NVC case # and an invoice number, now what?

Here is what you do first. Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline or your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. If you look at the profile of others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine your Embassy. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile.

So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile that sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question with factual information.

Go to the top right of this page select your name (it's on the upper right-hand corner)>my profile>[below your picture on the right column] edit my profile. Scroll to the bottom and fill in "Immigration Info". There now we can better serve you.

Thanks

My scanned/electronic petition is at the Bogota embassy (it was received October 2nd). But I guess the physical petition is not? The Colombian Embassy has informed me that it doesn't send the packets until the physical petition is received. However,  an NVC representative told me they don't send he physical petition unless solicited. Anyone else run into this problem? Is the only solution to wait it out? I obviously don't want to rub anyone the wrong way. We've been holding off on the DS-160 because we felt that we should wait for the packet first...

The physical file will be sent to the Embassy. There is a new batch going out this week, either tomorrow or Wednesday where your file will probably be on. Completing the DS-160 is not tied to any one event. You can do it now or wait for another time. Be aware that some Embassies require you to complete and submit it back to them before they will send you the P3 letter. Check your the link below for further information.

After you get your case number from NVC it would be a good idea if you were to connect with the VJ sub forum for all things dealing with the US Embassy in Colombia and they will answer your questions for the processing of your visa from their personal experience. Link:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/96-mexico-latin-south-america/

Get the US Embassy Colombian K-1 Packet 3 (P3) at  https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7hB3bl9Snfkb0NiMVFUd2JsVjA/view  as this is your bible needed to complete and receive your visa. The required documents are included and use the EL as a check list. Once you have completed or gathered the required documents you'll be ready for your interview. If it is not on the Embassy letter, it probably is not needed.

Last but not least, READ the pages on the US Embassy website for your country so that you are up to speed.

http://bogota.usembassy.gov/

One last place to check for information would be the VJ Wiki found here: http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/Special:AllPages and here http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Colombia&cty=Bogota

Good luck and God's speed.

You can't hurry it along at all. You have to wait for P3 which takes 2-4 weeks from Ready. Comply with what they ask for in P3 (the actually one they send you) by sending them a copy of the signed P3 checklist, your DS-160 confirmation and your Passport Bio. Then they send you P4. Then they tell you to register to schedule and you'll wait some more for interviews to open up, which only happens once a month during the last week of the month for two months ahead UNLESS you are lucky and you scoop up a cancellation. Get your medical appointment first so you can schedule the interview shortly afterwards.

Hi @Greenbaum

Regarding the AOS process , I had two questions:

1. As per the visa do we have 90 days just to get married after entering US or to get married n file all AOS papers?

2.  After entering US which needs to be done first - marriage or filing for SSN#?

tq @kohldjs do u know anyone link that help to get the medical exam done for immigration purpose in Hyderabad or chennai

Here is the letter that you will receive from Mumbai Embassy. Read it over carefully and follow the instructions. Another member of VJ added some additional information contained below which outlines what he experienced.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1xukUjdqnKM7yqrkqfPfl8tCao_BY2XsC/view?usp=sharing
https://photos.state.gov/libraries/mumbai/1057584/senkx/BMB%20IV%20Packet%204%20for%20Ks%20January%202015%20Revision_001.pdf

Once you received your case number from NVC,  I would recommend you fill out DS-160 form and submit. Some say the packet 3 letter is nothing just waste of time same thing they have mention which you easily get from USCIS website when you called to the clinics to book your medical appointment date they will ask you have you received your packet letter or not. Just say yes and booked the appointment date however you will receive that letter within 2 weeks the day you will get your NVC number.

Go on USCIS website make your account with password and then pay your fees to Citibank or Axis bank. They will give you reference number. With that number you can book your biometric and interview appointment date. The fees are 18,500 and for medical but I recommend that you carry 20,000 with you in the event you need more. Be sure to  keep at least 7 days gap between medical and interview.

Hello all,

For those of you who use the ais website to schedule the interview (https://ais.usvisa-info.com). Could anyone inform me how I correct a mistake on the DS-160 that I've already submitted?

I know I'll have to fill it out again and take the new confirmation page with me to the interview. What I'd like to know is if I have to update something on the AIS website? And how do I do so without needing to schedule a new interview.

Thanks in advance.

Just as you said complete a new DS-160 or advise the CO at the interview of the mistake. Either way bring the confirmation page that most like reflects your answers. No new interview needs to be scheduled.

So, without a SSN # you cannot open an account in US or joint account?

Just return to SS to get the name changed. Fill out everything concerning the AOS, double check and then send it in. Be sure to complete I-485, I-765 and the I-131 which if you do now will cost less.

Here is the letter that I used with a checklist. Be sure to look over the guide here on VJ for any other tidbits as it's been awhile since I did mine and things may have change so "don't rely on one resource".
