Hi, I have a question. We are a little confused which form in IRS to submit because my husband got his 1099misc later after he filed his 2017 W2 . In his tax return transcript in IRS, only his income in w2 reflected and that is below the hhs poverty guideline . But he has another form the 1040X amended income tax return which added his 1099 income -- that one is above the HHS poverty guideline. Can we submit the 1040X instead?

Use both at the interview with an explanation. Shouldn't be a problem. USEM is so lax when it comes to the financials. They have not been asking for financials for 4 years now, BUT they reserve the right to ask so be prepared but don't worry. As long as your documentation shows the TOTAL income earned exceeds the poverty level you're going to be fine.

Hi, what's the form DS-260? I am being asked to give the DS-260 confirmation number to schedule my interview appointment.

I only filled out the DS-160.

Do I need to fill out the DS-260 too?

Hi All,

I & my fiancé subscribed for updates about our case on NVC's web site and sent them inquiry last week (to update our email addresses). Our NOA2 (hard copy) was dated 09/20 (or 09/21 on old web site). I've just received email from NVC that they haven't received our case. It says that it can take 6 weeks for NVC to receive ur approved petition 😕

I hope this is a template which they send to everyone and it doesn't mean that we have to wait for the next 6 weeks...I do really hope they will receive it on this Friday or next Monday.

Do you think it make sense to call them on Friday or should we just wait for the next email from them? Is it possible that won't send notification via email when they will receive our petition (assign case #)?

From the letter:

"Thank you for your inquiry. We do not have a record of receiving your petition.

It can take at least six weeks for the National Visa Center (NVC) to receive an approved petition from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and enter it in the U.S. Department of State's database system. If it has been less than six weeks since USCIS approved your petition, you don't need to take any action at this point."

The concept for registering your email address is for you to stay off the phones and be updated when something actually happens. Otherwise, you are doing the same thing over and over. I'm trying to show you a better way but it's still your choice. BTW, people who are using this tip are getting notified each and everytime something happens to their case and they have been able to function without calling every hour.

About the "6 weeks". USCIS subscribes to the methodology that if you UNDER promise and OVER deliver then you keep your customer "happy". Here is an example to what I mean.

I experienced this same phenomenon at a hotel and a service station recently. Although the hotel's menu promised that room service would start at 6:15 a.m. when I called at 6:20 a.m., I was subjected to a tinny, tape-recorded message saying, "Room service will be open at 6:30." Though I'm a morning coffee devotee, the 15 minutes is no big deal, in absolute terms. But the delay was infuriating in light of the promise; it made me perceive I was getting rotten service -- and it was compounded by the hotel's high price tag.

The DS-260 is for an immigrant visa and your's is a non-immigrant visa requiring the DS-160.

Hi guys need your help sorry for all the question but me and my fiance are green about these things. Does NVC need the bank statement, tax return and employment letter plus the affidavit. And do you pay a fee am confused since I have not seen any forum on kenya

You send and pay nothing at the NVC stage. All documentation now is submitted to your Embassy. Originals for the beneficiary and copies for the petitioner.

VJ Portal for your Embassy

http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Kenya&cty=Nairobi,%20Kenya

Nairobi P3 letter

Google search on topics with Nairobi as the subject.

Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline or your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. If you look at the profile of others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine your Embassy. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile.

So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile that sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question with factual information.

Go to the top right of this page select your name (it's on the upper right-hand corner)>my profile>[below your picture on the right column] edit my profile. Scroll to the bottom and fill in "Immigration Info". There now we can better serve you.

Thanks

Our case still has not been received yet (NOA2: 7/9)

Does NVC have any special procedure to receive the file from USCIS? YES, but it is unexplained anywhere so it's incumbent on their internal procedures.

Or it might be pending at farther security checks since the beneficiary is Syrian? Most security checks are done at uscis stage of this process.

Each case is different and can arrive at NVC and sit for a few days or maybe a week before it's entered into their system. "Demand" dictates when the flow is moving fast or slow and changes each day. There is no explanation for why this happens.

Packet 3 was just DS160 so thats done. Packet 4 received which is instructions for medical and interview. We already have the interview scheduled but my fiancee is telling me I am supposed to have a very specific letter from the embassy with the interview time on it and a code for the medical. The embassy is telling me just show them Packet 4 and this email. So confused, I will be so glad when this is over.

I just asked my fiancé (petitioner) and he said the only thing he did was to sign up on uscis for new account back when we were waiting for NOA2, which I don't think has anything to do with NVC. Sorry to hear that you're still waiting :(

thanks so much! NVC has only received ours after 19 days so I’m happy about that now :) just wanted to know if we would get a confirmation e-mail after we signed up for nvc updates or only when something happens

This has to be the most nerve wrecking process I have ever seen. How do they rationalize this....People get NOA2 and sent to NVC at the end of September are already on the way to the embassy and we ours was received by NVC mid September and still sitting there decorating someone's desk. Seriously can we get some things moving. I was expecting movement at a much faster rate at this stage,  but it's feeling like we are starting all over again and driving me nuts.

I think uscis finish the back ground checks before approval so I don't think its that
