Thank you yet again, Greenbaum. I've been scouring through all those sub forums for extra tibits and help. I imagine it can take a couple weeks to be forwarded to the embassy. Do you have to wait until it is received by the embassy to complete the DS160? Or is it okay to start that prior? I'm assuming we should wait because I believe you book the interview online immediately after completing the DS160... and that would be a problem if the embassy hasn't received the packet by the interview date?

Ok let me say this please. Please read the links that I gave you. Everything is answered in those links. There is no way that I can know what each and every Embassy requires but I can send you links from what I have found or what others have shared with me like Embassy P3 letters. You have to do some of the heavy lifting as I can't do it all. If you have questions go to the link that is for your Embassy's sub-forum http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/96-mexico-latin-south-america/ and seek out a better understanding. Each and every Embassy's process is different. Some don't have a problem with you filling out the DS-160, others require you to do it at a certain part of the process. That's why I can't answer you question but the sub-forum folks for your country/region can. Thank you for understanding.

my Fiancee called today they told her that our case is in transit to Santo Domingo since yesterday, and they give her an Invoice number and our case Number.

Mmmmm do you think that maybe they are just telling you that so you will not call again? That kinda does happen if you weren't aware.  Check your status at ceac.state.gov and use immigrant for your visa type. What does it say?

Go to ceac.state.gov and select "immigrant" visa and add your case number. Your status will appear.  it will tell you one of three things... At NVC, In Transit, or Ready.

For those who have already filled out the ds-160:

I started to fill mine out and there is a part where they ask if you have any immediate relative in the US. I thought that only meant parents, siblings or children. But there's a side note on the page where it says that fiancé is also considered to be an immediate relative. I have filled out ds-160s in the past and this was not an option. So should I click on fiancé and proceed with adding my fiancée's information?

Recently we have seen more and more information appear on the DS-160 from your Embassy's request. Once the form knows your Embassy then the questions can change for you. So, again I caution folks that some things can be Embassy specific so don't be surprised. Most of these questions are geared for the beneficiary and how they would answer it so don't get it confused that the petitioner is completing this form.

So does the beneficiary have any immediate relatives in the US? If YES according to the instructions and if there are none then NO.

Hi there,

I am the beneficiary and im the one who is filling out the DS-160. Below is an image of how it this immediate relatives question looks like on my DS-160 (in case someone else is curious about this). According to the instructions, fiance is now an immediate relative. So for now I have chosen fiance and have put in my fiancee's information.

I just wanted to make sure because I have seen people debating on older k-1 posts saying that fiance is not a relative and they did not consider it to be one, even though the instructions say that they consider it to be.

What I have learned over the years is I am more apt to get the correct answer when I read the instructions and provide the answer that is being requested and to ignore what others are saying. I find this works 100% of the time. Your mileage may vary.

IMHO I would answer it YES and include your fiancé. Done. Next.

I have a question that I am sure has been answered but can't seem to find it. Since we have our case number but still at the NVC, should we go ahead and pay the visa fees now to schedule the medical appointment or wait still the case is stating "Ready"?  My fiance went to the approved medical sites and was told that the original appointment letter is required. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Sorry if this has already been asked.
