Called today nvc has received my case, 2 weeks to receive.  They said i can not sign up for emails until my case number is assigned.

they said up to 6 weeks to receive and up to 8 weeks for a case number.  I think the average is 1-4 weeks total from what i have read.

Well if you send them and email with the information that I outlined you'll get emails whenever your cases is updated. They may not take it over the phone hence why you got the "standard" reply.

Try and follow my post from above on how to register your email and see how easy it is to be aware when your case is "touched".

Hello VJ's,

I had my NOA2 approved from NVC on August 30th 2018. I got a text message/ email confirmation stating that my CASE has been received by NVC on September 6th.  I called NVC on September 14th and was being told that they've processed my case on September 10th.

I called NVC again this morning and I was told a complete different story. As per the agent whom I talked to, I was told that my case was received YESTERDAY ( 09/20) and I have to wait 6-8 weeks from 09/20 date. I'm wondering why'd someone give me 2 different answer knowing that everything is fairly stated in their database. Is this Normal?

Is this normal? YES.  Why? We don't know. Will it happen again? Quite possibly. What can I do? Nothing but give it a few days and call again and sign up for email notification.

Hey All,

I was hoping some folks might be able to help with a couple of questions around estimated timelines.

I received NOA 2 on 9/4

NVC received application on 9/20 (still waiting for them to create a Case Number)

How long does it take for NVC to issue case number? (I believe 2-3 days but wanted to confirm)

From the time NVC receives your case how long does it take to send to the embassy?

When NVC sends to the embassy how long does it take for them to receive it? (once again believe i read previously its 3-5 business days as they send the case details via Fedex but wanted to confirm if anyone else knows for sure)

Just trying to gauge the overall time especially since its getting closer to the finish line :)

It all depends on your embassy from NOA2 on out. Since you don't have a complete profile showing this information, it makes it difficult to help.

Hi anyone travelling from UK or Ireland that may be interested, I'm flying Manchester- Dublin - NY today, just went through border control at Dublin, extremely nervous despite having visited twice since filing k1. Got asked 1. Why are you visiting *to visit fiance* 2. Where does your fiance live *told him the city and state* 3. How much money do you have on you *told him*. He made a joke about my photo looking scary then stamped my passport. Didn't ask how long I was staying for, or if I had a return ticket which theyve asked me on all my previous visits, which surprised me. All in all very smooth. So this will be my last visit before the big move. Feels weird!

Your photo looking scary 😂

Do the following please:

1. Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline or your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. If you look at the profile of others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine your Embassy. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile.

So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile that sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question with factual information.

Go to the top right of this page select your name (it's on the upper right hand corner)>my profile>[below your picture on the right column] edit my profile. Scroll to the bottom and fill in "Immigration Info". There now we can better serve you.

Thanks

2. Each case is different, you can check the current processing times for the I-129F petition, see the “Check Processing Times” page.  USCIS  process fiancé(e) petitions in the order they receive them. Once they complete their processing, your approved petition is then forwarded to the National Visa Center (NVC). The NVC will then send the petition to the U.S. Embassy or consulate, which will need time to process your fiancé(e) for a visa.

3. There are several tools available to you. Go up to Immigration Timelines on the blue ribbon above and select it. Once you are on the next page looked to your left and you will see a box that states, "find similar timelines" and select it. A list will populate with those who are processing close to your timeline. When they start to change you will soon be behind them.

Also, there is another place you can go and follow others who are processing the same time you are and for the same Embassy. Go to the blue ribbon at the top of this page and select "portals". Scroll down the left-hand side of the page till you get to VJ "your country's name" Timelines. Just below it you'll see "K-1" so you select it and out pops a window with others from your country.

4. Currently it's been taking about 2 weeks for USCIS to send the file to NVC. Then it's been taking about 2-3 weeks for NVC to assign the case number. Then it's taking another 2-3 week depending on the Embassy to receive your case. Your mileage may vary! None of this is written in stone so your mileage may vary. Like others have said it depends a lot on your Embassy and prevailing winds.

Cleaning customs in Dublin was great! I flew Aer Lingus (LHR-DBL then Bradley)

let me know what the flight was like into New York, (white plains?) because as great as doing customs in Dublin was, the plane was old, the food was awful as was the  service. Was like flying a budget airline. Would like it if your experience was better! Hope you have an amazing trip.

Idk if this is useful information but it won't hurt to help. That said, our petition was approved on September 5th but my fiancee only emailed NVC on the 15th. We wanted to wait until it was at least en route before sending mailing them.

We then emailed them with the intructions provided by Greenbaum. Was fairly simple. We just said that our case was approved on September 5th, that it should in transit to NVC and that we wanted to request them to update both of us if any updates occurred in our case. Then we provided both our name, DOB and email.

I followed Greenb. instructions as well and emailed the correct department (per said instructions <) they wrote me back saying they cannot update anything until they receive my petition. I'm not sure why some people are having luck and some people arent. All in due time, though :)

I think you're the one who's lucky already having a NOA2. I had to wait 232 days for mine 😐

I have advacated in the past about registering your email with NVC once you have received your NOA2. NVC will update you record and begin sending you email updates to your case. You'll get an email when your case is received from USCIS and then you will get a email when your case number is assigned and you will get another email once your case has left NVC for the Embassy. These emails are very timely and keep you off the phone. @SilverMonk followed these instructions and they were amazed. See there post in the August NVC group.

After getting notified and receiving your NOA2 send an email to NVC asking for them to email both you and your fiancé if any updates occur. In the past they have replied when your case was received from USCIS, another when your case number has been assigned and when your case is being sent out to your Embassy without you having to make any further queries by phone. Here is where you send this information to:

Email address: NVCINQUIRY@state.gov

Subject: Your receipt #

Body: Petitioner's Complete Name Birthday ; Beneficiary's Complete Name Birthday

Or use the online form

https://secureforms.travel.state.gov/ask-nvc.php

Thank you so much...... Sounds great
