Hi

NOA2 : Sep 1

My fiance just called NVC for case number and he was told that they don’t even have our WAC number yet and it may take 6weeks to get our file...

Is this normal??

I already filled out the DS160 form and made an interview appointment on Oct 22.

how long will it take to get to US embassy in Japan??

That doesn't make sense 🤔

Now I see your initial question.

the answer is no. But please read what I wrote above as it explains how NVC decides on embassy to forward to and what you can do.

good luck :)

I got my NOA2 in the mail a few days ago and it does say Ankara is the embassy .... 🤔

Because NVC will assign the embassy. Uscis has nothing to do with this.

On your noa2? (By the way before anyone  starts panicking by reading this, there are two different noa2 templates. One that says it is forwarded to embassy one that says it is forwarded to NVC. However, all k1 cases go to NVC first. It is just that there are two templates available.)

Unfortunately, for uscis That doesn’t mean anything. They assign it according to the physical address.

No it’s ok, that’s the second template :)

we dont know why there are two different wordings but some people have that one with the embassy written. Even though it 100% goes to NVC

When you call the NVC later, they may tell you something like “what does it say on your noa2” and imply the case will directly go to your embassy. Don’t believe that, they just say this when they don’t have your case.(again we don’t know why- but it sounds like a miscommunication between uscis and NVC) call next day again.

Yep. You can put the a number on I-134 if you didn’t already signed and sent it. (It doesn’t matter if you don’t put it by the way. many people sends I-134 before noa2 so it is not important.

oh and that number will stay with him forever from now on. Also don’t lose your noa2!!! (This is serious!) get copies of it if you didn’t already. It costs almost as much as the petition to ask for a new one! You will need your I-129f approval notice for adjustment of status.

I'm sorry if this had already been asked. But I would like to know if NVC processes cases at all the same rate or do they process cases going to some embassies faster than to others?

Let's say a petition going to the Philippines and a petition going to Russia, will they process and send one out faster than the other or are given the same attention?

I believe they arrive at the NVC in batches and are processed and assigned a case number within a few days of arrival. Not all embassies receive them as quickly from the NVC, however, as some embassies use an electronic system while others use good old fashioned paper. One telltale sign is some embassies will e-mail Packet 3 within 24-48 hours of the NVC assigning a case number. Ukraine is one of these countries I know of for sure.

Nope they want the case number. Did you check the website? Doctor in Ankara has a really detailed website.
