Hi there!

So i was the one who asked you for advice when our case was stuck in USCIS. My fiancee followed your suggestions and spoke to a tier 2. Today we called NVC and they gave us our case number and invoice number. My question is: What’s next? Do we have to apply for DS-160 in the NVC website or we just have to wait for my interview schedule at the overseas US embassy? Many thanks to your answers!!

jonan

U can fill out ds160 now that u have nvc number. Not sure on the rest @Greenbaum will have those answers

noa1 date is actually they date on ur hard copy. Sadly if u reach the magical 220 day u must wait till 225 to contact Uscis. They use what the new site says. Even if ur paper says X date.

They added 5 days onto everyone’s accepted on NOA1

Once you move to "Received" you can send your Packet 3 to the Embassy and they will schedule the interview.  The BKK interviews seem to be scheduled for 2 weeks after they receive your Packet 3.  (The embassy selects the date and time for you, but you can contact them if you need to reschedule).   You will need to complete the medical before the interview and it takes a day or 2 for the results of the medical to become available.

Thank you BJ and Christine!

@Greenbaum NVC told my fiancee that they havent forwarded our case to Thai US embassy and it usually takes 2-4 weeks. Should we start our packet 3 now or wait until Thai US embassy has our case?

So I had applied for a tourist visa for Venezuela so I could attend the interview with my fiance.  After giving them everything they asked for long with my passport for 4 weeks, they ultimately denied my visa😩. No explanation, just a stamp that said visa denied. Hopefully this is not a sign of things to come. Our interview is Dec 3rd, so hopefully everything will go smoothly from here and he will get here around  xmas. It definitely is humbling to be on the other side of the visa process, and then to be denied. But we are keeping out spirits up. Good luck to everyone who has their interview these next few weeks

They can be very picky as to who they give a tourist visa to. This action will have no bearing on the issuance of a K-1 visa for you. So there's no need to worry.

Yes you can start your packet 3 now by gathering all the documents. Hold onto it until you get confirmation that the case has been set to ready at your Embassy before submitting the P3 back to them.

Read this information from the links. I have no knowledge of the procedure for the interview at your Embassy.

For your Embassy there is information here: http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Algeria&cty=Alger

The fiancé(e) K-1 nonimmigrant visa is for the foreign-citizen fiancé(e) of a U.S. citizen. The K-1 visa permits the foreign-citizen fiancé(e) to travel to the United States and marry his or her U.S. citizen sponsor within 90 days of arrival. You can learn more about fiancé(e) visas on usvisas.state.gov.

  1.  Once your file is received at post, an instruction package will be sent to you by email.
  2. First you need to pay the visa fee at one of Aramex offices, and then you have to register and schedule a K-visa appointment through the online appointment system at
    www.ustraveldoc.com/dz.
  3. Assemble the required documents that are listed on the instruction package.
  4. Schedule a medical examination with the Embassy-approved physician in Algiers at least 15 days before your visa interview
  5. If the visa is issued, your passport and documents will be available in approximately 7-10 business days at Aramex office that you already selected for pick up or delivery.
  6. If the visa is refused, the Consular Officer will provide you with further information.

Thank you for one more good advice! 😁 I’m going to follow it 😎

There is one caveat: If you buy tickets with flexible dates, it's fine to purchase with a tentative travel date. For example, in my case, in order to get tickets with the option to pick my seats in order to sit with my fiancee and daughter, I have to buy upgraded tickets anyways, and this includes free rescheduling.

Hello

On the DS 160, THE NATIONAL ID NUMBER it is the ID number where I from or where I'm living, like resident?

The national ID number is an ID that is given to all your countryman at some time. For the US we use the Social Security Number as one of our ID number and it to is national in scope.

The resident ID from the country you will have your interview in. If you don't have one from that country then substitute with your ID from your home country.
