This is going to be a tuff sell. You need to hope that the Embassy doesn't ask for financials as I think you have a "weak" financial case. If you have all of these I think you will have a good chance.

1. That you will be graduating and your degree will command a salary that will support the two of you above the poverty level.

2. That the Embassy doesn't look at financials like some Embassy's don't.

3. That your Grandmother has real estate and savings that is 5 times the household income.

I'm not going to blow smoke and tell you that you have this in the bag with an approval. I tend to be a realist and that is how I answer questions.

You need to find someone from Nicaragua and ask them if during their interview were they asked to submit financials that the CO reviewed. That will give you what we need to hear.

1) I have a dental assistance degree from New Jersey and studing dentistry here in Nicaragua so maybe that could be good news.

2) I will ask other members from visajourney that will be getting the interview in Nicaragua hopefully they can give me some answer.

3) She does have real estate, I will have to ask about her savings.

But thanks so much for the answers.

They are not totally negative.

Hi! Not quite sure where to post this question, but wanted to throw it out there to put my mind at ease:

On the DS-160 in the section where it asks for the address where the foreign fiance will be staying in the US, I told my fiance to put my current home address because we will live together when he gets to the US. In our original i-129f submission, we put my parent's home address in the part where it asks where the foreign fiance will be staying. Is this discrepancy a problem? I didn't have my own house until a few months ago so that's why the address what different on the original form. I figured that if this was brought up in the interview it could easily be explained. Am I right for thinking this or should we put the address on our original i-129f form for consistency's sake even though my fiance has no intention of staying at my parents'?

I'm pretty sure honesty is key here but thanks in advance for any help.

The fact that you've been DH and now studying for Dentistry will be VERY VERY favorable. I really don't think you'll have problem.

Personally not to have a problem stick to your parents address. You should have sent them a change of address form when you moved to your own house

Should have added this--I did update my mailing address to my new home address. Still, though, my parents' is listed under 'where the beneficiary will stay in the US' on the i-129f so maybe you're right! I'm so conflicted as to what to do here.

Check here for the amount that you'll need for your household size. https://www.uscis.gov/i-864p

You are 98% correct but the caveat is that some Embassies will use 100% at interview while others will use 125%. So if the couple are beyond the 100% threshold and not at or greater then the 125% that is something they will have to take into consideration because it could come back to bite them if not careful.

My suggestion is to contact the Embassy via email and inquire as to what limits their Embassy is using. Of course this is not necessary if the couple is above the 125% level. There is no need to bother.

Second suggestion is if they are close then the petitioner should think about getting a part time job that will take them over the required amount. Once they are approved the PT job is not necessary if they can live on their current earnings or any future earnings from the beneficiary. (assuming that is their plan)

Hi Greenbaum, my previous tax transcript in 3 years were 18k, 22k and 36k and just me and my daughter but this year I will be making almost 200k and I have W2.paystubs and Letter from my company showing how much have made and will be making this year. Do I still need a sponsor for my fiance proof of AOS. Thank you

If you updated your address after you submitted your 129F then you should be fine putting your own home address on the DS -160 because they should have your new address on file. I hope it makes sense to you

Hey guys, I was going over the petition that our attorney filled out and got a little worried. She filled out the biographic information (page 9 part 4) with my information instead of my fiancees. I just stumbled upon this by chance while reading up on some stuff. Our difference on that is our weight, height and eye color. USCIS probably caught on to this and approved us anyways I guess.

My question is, does anyone know if this can affect us during the interview or further down the process?

Thanks,

You're way above what is needed. You're going to be just fine with that amount.

Well, US consulate in Sydney emailed me today and said they want me to come in on Oct 30 for the interview, but the doc that did my medical exam says she can't send the finished report to the consulate because I still have gunk in my lung from a pneumonia infection I had two months ago, apparently because the US authorities are super antsy about TB.

She assured me that I can still go to the consulate and have my interview even without the medical report being sent yet, I hope she's right because I've booked my flights and accom already.

I guess we'll see what happens 😬🙏

Oh, also, when the consulate asks that you bring the 'letter' confirming your interview appointment, they mean the email they send you detailing your interview date right?

Yes. If you do not have the letter but a screen shot of the confirmation when you made the appointment that will suffice also. Either one. You'll present that at the gate on your interview date to the guard which confirms your appointment to them.

She is correct. But your final approval won't be until such time that the Embassy receives your completed medical. Please do not make flight arrangements till you have your visa in your hands.
