does the DS-160 have to be completed to book the interview for UK?

Here is two good places to find that answer since the process is different for each Embassy. Try the P3 letter and go to the sub-forum for the UK with lots of members that will help you with your questions.

P3 instructions for the UK

Embassy Page

https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/fiancee-2/required-documents/

London Portal here on VJ

http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=United Kingdom&cty=London

London sub-forum on VJ

There are experts over in the sub-forum for your country located here http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/99-united-kingdom/  This is where others from your country who are processing or those who have completed their interview and they can guide you on their experience. A TON of information and help there.

Thanks for sharing. If you don't mind I'll add the verbiage to carry out this task.

Go to www.dhl.com click Express then Tracking, then Track by Shipper's Reference, and on this page you add your search information. You change the day and month to what you think your package might have left NVC or call NVC to get the date your package had left NVC in route to Manila then go to the DHL website and enter the following information:

EXAMPLE:
* Shipper´s Reference : EXP 24 MAR 2011A  (This is the date you think it left NVC, just substitute the date leave everything else as is)
* Date range for shipment - From: 23 - 03 - 2011
* Date range for shipment - To: 26 - 03 - 2011
Account Number - Leave this blank
Shipment Destination: Manila / Works for any Country Just add the city where the Embassy is located

Yes that will work.

This is awesome... someone who figured this... need to salute them

Appointment made! Dec 3.... Christmas looks like a possibility.... however our scheduled "family" vacation is probably a bust. My family planned a vacation together with Jose in Aruba  Dec 8-15, then we hoped he would fly home with us as a family, but he will probably not have his passport/visa back yet.

At the end of your immigrant visa interview at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate, the consular officer will inform you whether your visa application is approved or denied.

Visa approval - When approved, you will be informed how and when your passport and visa will be returned to you.

Visa Approval - When you receive your visa

Passport with Visa – Your immigrant visa will be placed on a page in your passport. Please review the printed information right away to make sure there are no errors. If there are any spelling errors, contact the embassy or consulate promptly.

Sealed Immigrant Packet - You will also receive a sealed packet containing documents that you must present to U.S. Customs and Border Protection at a port-of-entry (often an airport) upon your arrival in the United States. You must not open the sealed packet.

When You Should Travel - You must arrive and apply for admission in the

United States no later than the visa expiration date printed on your visa.

An immigrant visa is usually valid for up to six months from the date of

issuance unless your medical examination expires sooner, which may

make your visa valid for less than six months.

with this said. U can't travel once u had the interview.

Oh yea I know. We planned this vacation back in April to celebrate his birthday together and just hoped that everything would be approved by then... guess we forgot we were dealing with the government lol... for Venezuela it takes 5-15 days to receive your visa/passport back. We haven't planned his flights for anything except to and from the interview. It's still gonna be a good vacation even if he can't attend.... cuz I need one after all the ups and downs with this process.... chillin on a beach with a tropical adult beverage is a good way to celebrate🕶️🍹
