My husband is from the UK and will need to have a medical exam done there before his interview (which won't happen for a long time since we just sent our petition to the USCIS last month. Does anyone know what the medical exam entails?

Is your husband in the USA right now? If he is then he will have to find an appointment USCIS doctor to complete his medical. You can find a list on the USCIS website. I believe that that you will get notice to complete your medical in the mail.

I completed my medical before we sent off out AOS package. It cost $255 for the medical plus I needed 2 extra vaccinations that I did not have which I got at our local health centre. The medical was just a blood test, urine sample, TB skin test and general exam.

He is not in the US. He's in the UK. He is wondering what they screen for when doing blood work and urine testing.

Are you worried about anything in particular?

Go to the UK forum on here and scroll through the topics. Many people have outlined how the London medical exam played out. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/99-united-kingdom/

See the visa clinic's webpage with info here http://www.visamedicals.co.uk/us.htm

If you want to know the technical instructions given to the doctors who perform visa exams, start reading here https://www.cdc.gov/immigrantrefugeehealth/exams/ti/panel/technical-instructions-panel-physicians.html

Standard tests given:

  • chest X-ray to check for TB.
  • blood test for syphilis infection
  • urine sample for Gonorrhoea testing. They do not use the urine for drug screening unless you admit to ever in your life having used illegal substances. If so, they add on the drug screening and an additional fee to run the extra test.
