On the basis of needing to be there on our wedding anniversary and to spend the holidays there with the family.  I live solo here in Australia.  I've heard a lot of people getting approved for this reason.  Thoughts please Geowrian....

Not sure where you heard that but expedites for petitions and visas are for very specific reasons like severe financial loss and humanitarian reasons. If people could expedite due to family events and vacation time, everyone would do it but they definitely don't because they can't.

Really? I’ve not seen anyone being approved for those reasons. We spent two wedding anniversaries and two Christmases apart between getting married and my visa being approved. I also lived all alone in the UK. If it were possible to expedite for those reasons, I would certainly have done so.

Yup, I found in a couple of threads that there are recent approvals for those.  Are you in the US now JFH?  That's a long time to be spending time apart...

Yes I’m here now. We went through a denial for a spousal visa for my husband to move to the UK before we filed for my CR-1. That’s why it took so long to be together. Even that wasn’t grounds for expedite. I’m going to look for threads where people were expedited because of Christmas and anniversaries and ask for them to be pinned - would be useful information for others.

I have heard of 4 cases this August...on a thread on FB... one reason was a birthday too.  I haven't received my NOA2...still waiting.  What about you?

The process would be to contract the embassy/consulate and request the expedited. Provide evidence of the need for the expedited.

Beyond that, the reason doesn't sound very strong. By that logic, nearly every applicant should get an expedite and approval before the holidays. Typically the reason is for an emergency situation.

But the decision is up tot he embassy/consulate. Some are more strict than others.

But we all have birthdays every year. It doesn’t make sense to expedite because of a birthday.

Expedite is at NVC stage I believe... skipping that and going straight to the embassy

I saw these on the 130FB group too. I'm not sure I buy that. I think the beneficiaries were all in the Philippines if I recall.

I've been on here a long time and have also never heard of an expedite to spend a special day together - if that got out, like everyone else says, they would all be doing it.
