Error in marriage certificate

Hello! I’m just wondering if an error in marriage certificate might cause an RFE or petition to be denied. Married name of mothers were mistakenly put instead of maiden name. We’ll have it corrected but it takes months. I’m wondering if we can just submit it as is so we can file soonest or wait for the correction before filing.

There was a big discussion recently about people who knowingly submit wrong documents or leave documents missing just to hold their place in the line. I disagree with this. 

 

You probably theoretically COULD - and I know how hard it is to wait for these things - but you're applying for something super important (a visa!) and knowingly submitting documents that are wrong.....I dont know how I would feel about that?

I wouldn't worry about fixing it, just go forward. Legal documents have less than a 50/50 chance of being 100% correct anyway.

We’re in the process of having it corrected. I hope it will be done by October. If not, we might consider filing even with that glitch.

@Chub08 hello, may I ask if you did proceed with non corrected marriage certificate? do they issued you visa after all? thank you I have the same problem with my marriage certificate right now. How long it takes to process the correction?
