Importing Car to USA?

Going to be filing an American Visa and was wondering on the possibility of having my car taken with me if I do go? Looking at this article, I'm intimidated and wanted to hear if anyone has actually made this possible! Thanks.

Possible, I looked at it, not practical. So I sold and bought here.

THing that will not allow u to do so would be emissions if it’s a newer car. Every country has different emissions standards. 

 

If if it is older then 20 years then u are not required to meet emissions standards. 

 

Now freight and and port charges would be awfully steep. I’d check with how much it cost prior to anything else.

It can and has been done. But unless you are in Canada or Mexico (and can drive it here) its probably not very economical. Probably cheaper to sell and use the money to buy a 'new' one here.

What would be the point unless it’s a classic or collectors car? Is your car a left-hand drive? It’ll be very inconvenient if it’s not. It’s not just going to be strange to drive a right-hand drive here but toll booths, car park ticket machines, drive-through ATMs, car washes, etc are all designed for LHDs.

Unless your planning on being a mail man, or woman. (They use right hand vechiles) then I would recommend you sell the car and buy another with that money in the US.

 

Insurance will be more for a right hand drive  and as others have stated everything over here in the US is designed for left hand drive.
