Another point the OP.. and others reading.. would be wise to note..

 

I've seen thru this forum and others.. one or two denied b2 attempts for a USC parent(s), and next thing is to apply for a GC. All well and good as the law says they can. But what folks don't realize is, the GC is not a sort of super tourist visa.

 

A green card requires the parents make the US their permanent home; of course they may visit the home country for short durations. And of late, COs also appear to be scrutinizing the risk of elderly parents' becoming a public charge on medical-related issues.

Not just once. She'd most likely get a 10-year visa & would be able to spend months with them at a time (depending on CBP's discretion).

They can surrender their GC thus proving their lack of immigrant intent & apply for a tourist visa.

As noted above, heck of a process for a few weeks holiday. But an option nonetheless.

Odd how a lot of the advice is to go the GC route instead of a non-immigrant visa... wouldn't that just be a huge waste of resources??

Depending on how important seeing your grandchildren is to you.

Greencard option is a great suggestion. Based on current trends many middle eastern countries currently have zero hope to get any visitor visa for many years. As well the culture is not one where everyone takes a major holiday to party in a hotel. These family, elder especially want to experience how day-to-day life is with their family. The ability to see the bedrooms, the schools the community their grand kids are being raised in, the ability to see the playground they go to. The ability to have a big family lunch at home is what they seek.

Yep, this seems to be the best way to get a Tourist Visa from certain countries.

The broken piece is how it has been abused so heavily, making it difficult for those who come later with legitimate purposes.
