What is a “cousin brother”? Is it a cousin or is it the brother of a cousin?

(as for “clear”, OP also said he was going to attain a weeding, but I could figure out what he meant there. I do not know this term “cousin brother”, in 50 years of speaking English I have never heard it. I just thought there was an apostrophe missing but apparently not.)

You're arguing a moot point. You know, like a cow's opinion.

Anyway, he meant cousin. Can we stop arguing about it? Thats just how some people use the language. Believe it or not, English is the world's language and it is used in different ways in different parts of the world.

Explain please - illustrate for me a situation where your cousin’s brother is not your cousin also?

My cousin's brother is not my cousin.  She is my cousin through my moms brother.  He passed away and her mother (not blood related to me) remarried and had more children.  This makes them her siblings but they are not blood related to me so they are not my cousins.

1) that’s my cousin’s half brother, not my cousin’s brother, and it would have been immediately obvious

2) the confusion around the term has already been cleared up

but thank you anyway

Good grief, I sincerely did not understand what he meant. Yes English is used in different ways, trust me I know that when we see Americans all the time who do not understand common British idioms, all that was needed was for someone to actually explain it properly (you know, like “he meant cousin”)  the first time I asked 🙄 once I understood it i said so.

No worries.  You asked, I was just trying to clear it up.  Blood is blood.  Brother or half brother.  Still brother.

why are you responding to a comment i made to someone else in a different context as though it as a conversation with you, blithely ignoring my actual response to you? anyway terms are different, and this has been cleared up, your comment was obsolete and didn't address my response anyway, and i will retire from this thread before i start using terms that some people may or may not understand in the US but will certainly be understood here - hoping the mods can come in and clear the nonsense this turned into, sorry i unintentionally started this by just innocently asking for someone to clarify a term...

The nonsense that you created.  No need to be so bitter over your own ignorance.  You asked a question and you received an answer.  You're welcome and have a great day.
