Hi,

I have a simple question for you please, last month I went to DMV to renew my ID, the person at DMV who processed my application was new I guess it took him 1 hour scanning my papers and having a big difficulties entering the info into the system, he is the one took pic for me.

I went home and after 20 days I called DMV I was told there is no picture included with my application and the application is pending because they need to review my legal presence!!!.

I went back to DMV last week and spent 4 hours on line they took another picture and I made sure to give them again my US passport to scan it again, today I called and was told they got the picture and they need to verify somethings with  homeland security something I have no idea what is it. the agent  gave me  a number to call from for DL/ID  and legal presence but all the units options seems busy, no answer

is this normal?

Thank you

thank you for your answer

I never heard _reviewing legal presence if they have a scanned passport and  scanned DL _ it seems they are just slow or may be the first agent who processed my application made big mistakes on application I still remember he was reading and telling me you never had ID before I said no i'm renewing it, he said ohh they were reviewing and processing your papers before you became US citizen, I think he just wrote something there that mess up everything

If you are getting a real ID from the CA DMV and not a Undocumented DL then yes they do need to verify that.

What's ur current status in America?

because the new administration has now put into effect a new change
Anyone that's not a citizen that goes through DMV has to have their legal presence verified by Homeland. That's just a thing now. It's not a mistake.
Verification itself through Homeland is about 5-7 business days but it does mean that you wasted time going to the DMV.
For Texas- (not sure if every state gives you one) but they send you a letter once Homeland verifies your presence and then you can take that letter to DMV
Don't go before then-- you're only going to be wasting more time

This only applies if you're trying to get a DL
I believe a regular state ID does not need Homeland verification as long as Visa/I-94/Passport are not expired.

DO YOU KNOW IF THERE IS ANY NUMBER TO CALL TO TALK TO A SUPERVISOR AT DMV?

I called last time and was told I need to take another picture( the one was taken at dmv is lost), I went there and took another one ( Waited 4 h inline) , I called after a week to see if they got it they said yes and they will send the card .

Today I called and was told that they see the vision test is missing and they don't know if I need to go back to DMV to take another one or no, they gave me a phone number to call to see if I need to go to DMV. that number is the same as the number I got before its not working.

What should I do? I need the ID card, i'm on hold waiting for 1month and may be as told I will wait for 6months because of mistakes happening in their system like I was told today.
