Hello all, in the state of Texas, the use of Marijuana is illegal.. My question is what happens to a soldier if his dependant, being mom or dad or father in law is caught smoking Marijuana.. Does the soldier loose his job and get arrested as well? Please advice

Believe it will be up to his chain of command. As a combat vet myself, generally if say the soldier's child got into trouble and arrested (at least on base that is) then the chain of command could look into it I suppose. If off base then probably they won't even find out about it.

More than likely if it's an adult dependent, probably nothing would happen. They won't get discharged over it or anything. Worst case would be some formal counseling statement from the company/battalion.

If they were to have the drugs in their house of course they could get arrested and fined. But you don't get discharged over one charge generally unless it were some massive massive amount of the drug or a serious criminal offense.

I'm military and my fiancee is an alien immigrant (POE on the 18th) She will not be doing anything illegal  like smoking weed to threaten her status.

Since this is a visa messag board I assume someone in your household is an immigrant an I'm not sure why they would risk any type of punishment/jail time/criminal record/deportation for some weed. I mean at least wait until full naturalization.
