Philanthropy and redistribution of wealth are not the same thing. 

 

In the first case it is voluntary and left to the individual to determine what they choose to share. In the 2nd case it is forced on taxpayers to support systems merely because someone thinks they should and disproportionately based on their income. 

 

Support whatever entitlement program you wish, don't encumber me

I am a conservative (doesn't mean I'm a Republican by the way). I am married to an immigrant of a different ethnicity than mine and we have a child together (and hopefully more in the future). There are many other conservatives on these forums who have a similar family situation to mine. Seems to me that we are for demographic changes (more specifically it's not even a consideration for some of us either way when we choose who to have a family with) and we are pro immigration. The part that the radical left open borders crowd doesn't like is that we are for law, order and national security so we oppose illegal immigration. I never understood people who went through or sponsored someone through the legal immigration process supporting the actions of illegal aliens after what they went through to do things the legal way. But that's just me.

Do a Google search and you will see numerous studies that say you are wrong. The bottom line is conservatives give way more to charities than liberals do. There is this false perception that liberals are more giving because they support socialist government programs. The truth is they would rather use the government to take your hard earned money to give to their failed pet projects rather than give any of their own money. I would put any private charity against any government run program of similar size and funding any day and guarantee the charity would be more cost efficient and effective than its government counterpart.

I am a Christian. I don't look down on anyone for their religion nor do I push my beliefs on anyone. You want a religion that fits the bill of what you said? Look no further than Islam. I don't even look down on them for what they believe. Only for some of their actions I believe to be immoral regardless of their religion. By the way I look down on the actions of a lot of Christians that I believe to be immoral.

How do you equate conservative with anti-immigration.  As is well known I drive on the right economically, and I am a full supporter of LEGAL immigration.  I also know a lot of conservatives that are Muslim, Jewish, Buddhist, etc.  As to change, I am all for change and progress as long as it doesn’t include Socialism which is proven time and again to be an utter failure as a economic strategy.

 

I guess since we are using broad strokes, I can paint leftist as all for bigger government, open borders, ignoring laws that suit their ideology, and limiting individual rights.

Maybe other peoples mone, that's what libs love to spend ..  I am conservative,  I gave an disabled man a house the other day. I gave a struggling co worker with 3 kids hundreds of dollars the other day and took his 3 kids 2 of whom are black buggies of food. Guess I dont fit his stereotype
