Hello fellow guys -

My interview was on 27 aug at ISL embassy. CO asked for following docs.

1. IRS transcript for last year tax (will get it)

2. Employment letter of husband (will get it)

3. Divorce Certificate - All documents petitioner submitted at the time of first divorce  (really confused about this)

4. Correct passport pics (will get these)

Divorce happened in Pakistan. What documents we need? we already submitted certificate given by nadra (union council)

Help is really appreciated.

It would have better if your husband filed the divorce in USA as they understand and trust those documents.  Pakistani divorce seems to be a big confusion in that embassy if you read the threads on here you'll see couples that produced the Union Council certificate but were asked for the original Urdu petition filed then you'll see others who produced a rupee stamped paper then had to produce a Union council.   Then you'll see cases they were asked to submit the notices that were sent of the divorce.  We submitted all and the counselor still didn't believe us didn't ask for anything in addition but didn't believe my husband was really divorced.  Its been a nightmare.  Send them the original Urdu paper that was issued to get the union council certificate and notices that were sent to notify of divorce and anything else you can think of that shows the divorce happened.  Also  have them attested at the Office of Foreign Affairs.

The original letter is on stamped paper is in Urdu and was witnessed by elders in the family.  Because both parties were in agreement they appear to an attorney  who will attest the document and no notices are required and it did not need to go to court.  This document was taken to produce a metropolitan divorce certificate.   The metropolitan divorce certificate was signed by the metropolitan head office and the DC then was verified by the Foreign office and attested.

We also have provided them additional before getting reaffirmed documents from NADRA showing she updated her CNIC (removed my husbands name) and her marital status is listed as divorced.  We also submitted his family FRC.  I don't think any of these would be helpful in your case since his ex wife is a USC.

You're supposed to bring tax transcripts/returns and W2 if relevant to the interview, regardless of what you submitted before. It's in the interview document checklist for the embassies/consulates here. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/list-of-posts.html (Click on your embassy/consulate and when you get to the document, scroll down until you get to the checklist.) I found this site very helpful since I was never sent a checklist by my consulate.

Also, here it says that you are supposed to bring financial documents to the interview. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/interview/interview-prepare.html

Good luck!

@LousiaC, I assume you have seen this but I will send this link with information from the State Department just in case you did not see it yet. Good luck! https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Visa-Reciprocity-and-Civil-Documents-by-Country/Pakistan.html
