Hi everyone!

I wanted to know what do people do while they wait for their EAD cards.

It's a long wait from applying for it until it arrives (almost three months), so what do people do?

Just stay at home and live on savings?

Thank you so much for your time and answers!!

Stay home, doing art crafts and enjoy the vacation as much as I can because I know I will miss this free time when I start working later

Cleaned, cooked, small DIY crafts and home-decorating projects.   We'd moved into a new apartment very shortly after marriage so that kept me busy for a while getting stuff taken care of for that.

I spent a lot of time shopping 😛

I've been lining up volunteer opportunities for my fiance to do when he arrives and while he waits on the EAD. He will go crazy without something productive to do. So I've made connections with people for hobbies that he has. So far he will be helping coach a soccer team and helping a friend with some work projects around their house. This friend has been really helpful to us in this visa process, so it will also be a way for him to contribute in saying thank you for all they have done for us. It also means that when it comes time to apply for work, he can have some references that are in the US that will have seen him in action on volunteer projects.

that is an excellent idea!
thank you so much!

Well, if you’re in the US with a k1, pending aos, without ead, you’re not authorized to work. If working was so important, the k1 was a bad choice

what other choice would've been better in your opinion??

My husband went to English classes at the library. There are all sorts of free classes at the public library. He met some friends there.  He did alot of cooking and house chores. We didn’t live off savings as I am employed full time. His EAD took just over 100 days. We knew this when we applied for the K1 so it wasn’t anything unexpected.

a CR1 would've taken way longer to process, and my fiancee and I don't want to spend that much more time apart.

Well then I guess you have no choice but to accept the consequences of that K1 decision. I’m sure you looked forward and read up on the AOS process.  Hopefully EAD won’t take too long. Good Luck!
