Does my credit credit and my fiance's come into play during the K1 visa process please? We submitted our packet in May and we're waiting on either an RFE (hopefully not) or details about the medical and interview at the US embassy in London.

I know my own credit score could be better but  throughout this whole process, is there across border sharing of  each others records and therefore it affecting each other? I believe that's how it works in the US and I think here in the UK - one partner's rating to a certain extent directly affects the others.

Thanks

no.

and credit rating only affects the others if there are joint accounts. if all accounts are separate, they do not have much, if any, impact.

Immigration does not look at  credit rating.

You can read your London instructions here. https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/fiancee-2/applying-for-the-visa/

One more thing.....slightly off topic......Once you are in the US and married, I suggest you start building your new spouse's credit record soon.  Adding him/her to your existing credit card is a good way to start.  At least that's what we did, and her having an established credit record and score helped when we recently purchased our new home.

To add to this - if the spouse happens to have an Amex in the UK, he/she should be able to immediately open an Amex account once he/she arrives in the US, using Global Card Transfer, with roughly the same credit limit as he/she has in the UK :)  Worked beautifully for me - had a pretty nice credit rating in the US within a couple of months of arrival

No, yours and your fiancé's credit rating does NOT come into play at all thank God. If that was the case I would have been denied for having a 400 credit score in 2012 due to a divorce.

Credit rating has no affect on the immigration process. The only time it comes in to play is when your fiancé actually gets here and you two start making a life together.
