When people break the law there should be consequences and it doesn't matter what the crime is.  This woman would not be dead except for our porous border and lax enforcement.  Then when ICE starts actually enforcing the laws we get the bleeding hearts out there claiming every illegal is a saint.  As to equating this to citizens hurting or killing each other, that is apples and oranges.  The borders and immigration laws need to be enforced and if they were this would not have happened.

Also, I don't believe I ever leached onto anything in my life, but my yard leaches quite well.

this whole thread is bashing the organizer and his event celebrating the iowan latino community.

also, leeched.

Actually I don't see that.  Most of the initial reply was saying that canceling these festivals was most likely an over-reaction.  It did come to light that this guy in the OP did advocate for illegal immigration, so one wonders why the festivals were canceled?  I am sure some may think it is all those big bad racist Nazi loving Iowans causing this, but maybe, just maybe the organizer thought it a bad time to advertise a festival where illegal immigrants may attend along with ICE.

did it come to light? i saw posts about it, but nothing based in fact.

why would one wonder why he postponed the festival when he literally addressed why it was postponed?

I had a look at their Facebook page, pretty clear what their interests are.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Exactly. Plus we also get the left and their corrupt partners, the mainstream media, spreading lies that illegals commit less crimes and are good for us.

To quote Mr Tibbets from the news article

“The Hispanic community are Iowans. They have the same values as Iowans,” he said. “As far as I’m concerned, they’re Iowans with better food.”

I am sure there are plenty of Hispanics who are Iowans, but an illegal immigrant is just an illegal nothing more. Mr Tibbets was not asked his opinion on illegal Hispanics, maybe the reporter would have gotten a different answer.

Also to quote from the news article...

"Cristhian Bahena Rivera, 24, has been charged with first-degree murder in her death and is being held in lieu of a $5 million cash-only bond. He is suspected of being in the United States illegally"

Suspected of being in the country illegally?  Would it be so hard for the left leaning media to just say that he is illegal, why try to put a spin on it?

It would be an intriguing social experiment to show up at some of these rallies with a bullhorn, shout "La migra!" (term for Immigration or ICE), and see who runs.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Reminds me of my days in high school at a keg party in the woods.  When the line was long to get a beer, someone would shout “cops”, and almost everyone would scatter except for those few in the know, and the line to the keg was much much smaller.

The consequences in those circumstances were somewhat less.

One time, Mrs. T-B. & I went to a local taqueria, and I was the only gringo.

As we left, I asked her what might happen if I returned and shouted "La migra!"

She calmly observed that, after they determined the hoax, I'd probably get my throat cut.
