So.... Here is the USCIS list of needed Vaccines:

These currently include:

  1. Mumps
  2. Measles
  3. Rubella
  4. Polio
  5. Tetanus
  6. Diphtheria
  7. Pertussis
  8. Haemophilus influenzae Type B
  9. Rotavirus
  10. Hepatitis A
  11. Hepatitis B
  12. Meningocococcal disease
  13. Varicella
  14. Pneumococcal pneumonia
  15. Influenza

My fiance will be getting the blood test done soon to see what he is immune to as of now. He will then make an appointment to get the vaccines next month (we are March 5th NOA1 so we want this part done). My question is I have heard a few times that he may not have to actually receive ALL the vaccines that he is missing per his age (or something along these lines). Is there official information out there in cyberland that can explain this in detail. So for example lets say the blood test shows he needs vaccines #s 1 - 8, #12, and #15 on the list. Since he is a 35 year old male, of those vaccines he is missing he will only need to get vaccine #s 2 - 6 and #12 (for example). I don't think his regular doctor will know anything about which ones he will "only need to get because of his age" versus receiving ALL of the ones that show up that he is missing. I hope you can understand that jibberish :)

Thanks!

I will attach a link to the current 2018 CDC chart for adults 19 +. Some of the vaccinations require multiple shots as they are a series of 3 shots. The initial, 30 days later, than 180 days later. You can pass the medical with only the First shot of the series, but when it comes to AOS you may need to show you completed the series. Best bet to get in as many as you can before he comes to the US. The vaccinations are probably much cheaper than here, so it will save you money in the long run if you don't have to get any booster shots later. Easy to read chart is linked below. Some doctors will mark your DS-3025 from the medical complete if you have at least 2 of the series completed, but this is not guaranteed. Once you get the 2nd of the series you are about 80% covered, and the 3rd is a bonus to finish it up.

I don't think you will need them translated, as they seem to have a booklet or form that is pretty universal. My fiancee had hers done at the Red Cross in Thailand ( Because it was dirt cheap there), and they gave her this booklet with the vaccinations marked and stamped with date she had them, and then we had the printout from the Teiter test ( Blood Test) I think it is called to show she already had chicken pox so that covered that. Didn't get anything translated and the doctor marked her complete on the DS-3025, so no issues there.

Measles, mumps and rubella

varicella

tdap (or td if he had tdap already)

this is usually it for age 19-65.

he is turkish so if his family went to regular doctor he must be set to all of them done but he will need a booster of td.

Tdap is the one we all had in elementary school or middle school but it needs a boost every 10 years so he will need TD vaccine.

for measles - in turkey around 1980s there was a problem with some of the vaccines so even if he had these but he doesnt have a record then I would suggest getting a titer test in a regular doctor first.

chicken pox is not needed if he ever had this as a kid, so learn that history.

in Turkish for him to ask his mother (mother’s know this like magic; measles: kizamik,, mumps: kabakulak, rubella: kizamikcik, varicella(chicken pox): su cicegi, tdap( tetanoz, bogmaca difteri) if he went to a normal school he had this. And the boost is TD: tetanoz, difteri.

Also important, as September is coming this means flu shot season is coming so he needs the flu shot too.

In japan they didn’t need a translator.

the medical place in Turkey has an awesome website that explains a lot I would check that and give them a call.

Thank you so so much! He said that his doctors do not have that record 😅 So the blood test will be helpful. I wonder if he can call the doctor in Ankara (that is  the only one they list) and they can tell him specifically which ones he needs ?

ill have him do that, meanwhile getting the teiter test done.

thanks everyone !
