McCain didn't even want Mango Mussolini at his funeral. It's Mussolini who burnt those bridges by openly denigrating him.

And I doubt Trump would have gone anyway, regardless what does that have to do with Trump wishing his family his condolences.  As to who started what, who cares.

Glioblastoma is a terminal illness. Knowing this was coming, I think Trumps conduct towards McCain over the last year has been appalling. I don't agree personally with a lot of things John McCain said, but the man was dying. Just show a little respect. For the service he has given to his country, he has earned that much. If one could think of nothing good to say about him, just say nothing.

Trumps conduct towards McCain while he was still alive bothers me more than anything that happens now after McCain's passing. Statesmanship was not something Trump was ever capable of bringing to the table. I don't expect that of him now, and it would be difficult for him to pull off anyway, given his attitude towards McCain. Those bridges were burned a long time ago.

Exactly, Trump's condolences towards McCain are empty and meaningless. He even took the time to make it all about himself.

Cant disagree with most of what you said, but it has little today with what some of the TDS unhinged left said.

Trumps comments about McCain's military service were troubling.

As always Kathy Griffen is the voice of reason and healing, she was moderately amusing as a d-grade comedian but her vitriol and lack of couth are both repugnant and childish. How did she honor Senator McCain with her vulgar and loud comments. The man's death is not the time to show disdain for Trump, we know how you feel why now

I don't have any social media accounts, so I am just reading what is linked. I only saw two tweets directed at Trump and the rest were condolences to John McCain and/or his family. My preference would be if people focused on the latter.  I would offer my condolences to the family of John McCain without bringing Donald Trump into it. We all know how Trump felt about McCain. I thought he was out of line before, but at this time, it is proper protocol to offer condolences. I don't have any issue with him making a statement now. If McCain's family has any personal  issue with Trumps statements, it would be something they could respond to themselves.

Exactly agree

In my opinion you don't have to agree with or even like someone to offer heart felt condolences to their family when they pass away. There are plenty of people I disagree with and don't like but I wouldn't wish something like this even on them. Any attacks on Trump for offering his condolences are politically motivated plain and simple.

What are the "NFL flag protests"?

The anthem protests are thought to show lack of respect for the flag, an easy transition if not trying to be contrary

So we have NFL protests during the anthem (let's call them), we have a few celebrities speaking out about the sincerity of Trump's condolences to McCain, and we have the "entire" media taking a unified stance on both issues and ... sorry .... I don't see the link between all this. I don't even think the assertion (by Posobiec) is correct to begin with. Even if he was correct about the media, it's two different issues.

I believe the issue players are raising is criminal justice reform. You can certainly make a good argument that the venue is inappropriate. If veterans feel disrespected, I do understand that, but there are also other veterans who say they served to protect freedom of speech, which includes the right to protest. There is no way to make the case that the protest itself has ever been directed at veterans or any aspect of military service. That is simply not true.

How petty and vindictive is Mango Mussolini today about being told by the American Legion about putting the flag at half staff.
