As I understand, the NFL gets money from the Armed Services.  As part of that agreement, the Anthem is to be performed at the beginning of each game.  So to protest some perceived slight during the performance of the Anthem has everything to do with the Armed Services.  This all started with a statement on police brutality that later was proven inaccurate.

 

It won't matter much anymore anyway as the NFL sheds viewers and ad revenue.

which begs the question, why does the us military pay the nfl anything. the nfl doesn't 'get money' from armed services,  the military is PAYING the nfl to put on displays of patriotism, like they would pay for commercial air time. WHY?

The anthem was played due to WW2.

Players stayed in the locker rooms until 2009, when they came on the field for the anthem.

The other military involvement is apparently used a recruitment tool.

I think the money could be better used to help our veterans and those presently serving.

The best and the brightest typically around found on a football field.

the anthem is still played. it just isn't always televised.

and i agree, as it is now the military is using the flag/anthem, as marketing tools.

They should just take the anthem and military out and any sort of patriotic display as it doesn't really fit with the players nor supporters I gather.
