I scored 15.. But I also was Clueless to much miles to the gallon my car gets.. Is that bad?

But I live with 4 or 5 other people (all adults) in a house less than the average size for US (4 1/2 bedrooms, none of which really big), don't eat any meat, can't afford a car, and recycle because can't afford to not to.

I got a whopping 22 and yet I walk to work, we prepare fresh food (not processed), recycle and so forth.

The high number was attributed to "goods and services".

An unfair assessment in my mind.

Hm.. interesting.

So the same economically limited options .. as a test, if I would have the same selection of house size, amount of people living, the same amount of travel and food options .. why is it that for Ireland I would score 2.5, for Finland with exact same choices (excluding climate) 3.6 and for US 7???

There are so many things that does not take into account at all - such as shopping habits, whether or not one uses excessive heating or air conditioning, how much food is cooked and cultivated home vs eating out or prepackaged. Still, within the same basic choices I find it very hard to believe that it would be automatically 3 times worse if we lived in Texas than here. If the travel, housing etc are equal, there is less need for heating etc. And all food doesn't have to be imported in US ...

23. I think I should get credit for having ultra-low-water use washer, toilets, and shower heads, though. And for not having a lawn, all native (desert) plants.

And why does public transportation suck so much here? We've worked out that if gas gets over $3.32/gal. it's cheaper to buy two bus passes than drive to work; but if we do, we'll have to leave the house half an hour earlier and get home half an hour later, thereby doubling our commute and leaving our poor puppy alone for even more time than she already is (and we wouldn't be able to check on her at lunch, either).

ETA: And if I change to the UK and choose all the same answers, I get 9.3. #######?
