So we're just waiting for our noa2 hopefully by November or December. Just found out that we're gonna need my fiance's tax return. He owes them money, how will it affect our application. Has anyone had gone through the same?

They really only look at adjusted gross income.  The tax return doesn’t reflect whether or not the tax has been paid.

As long as he filed the tax return you'll be fine in terms of your K-1.   As stated above they are primarily looking to see how much money he makes to determine if he has enough money to sponsor you.  However, be aware that owing the IRS money can become a very big problem very quickly.  The IRS can add interest and sometimes enormous fees.  Once you get beyond a certain threshold ( I believe it's 50,000) then the IRS can request denial and eventually even revocation of a passport.  Owing the IRS money is something that should be addressed to avoid future problems although problems with the K-1 isn't an issue.

Technically, the CO will consider a tax debt in the ability to sponsor somebody since they look at the totality of the circumstances. There are others that have been requested to show a transcript of their balance.

But so long as it is not an amount significant compared to the income/assets being claimed, and he is not past due (or he can be current on a payment plan), it shouldn't be an issue.
