Hi all,

On my husband's (beneficiary) i-130a he put his mother's name as Heather (first name) Shelly Ann (middle name). This is how it shows on her passport and all her govt id also she is called Heather. However on his birth certificate it just says her first name as Shelly Ann and does not include the middle name Heather.

We are now at the NVC stage and will have to submit birth certificate and the DS 260. Will this be a problem if we now put shelly ann as first name and heather as middle name. Or should we leave it as it was on the i-130a?

To get her own passport she would have had to submit a birth certificate. I bet this says Heather Shelly Ann, so just submit a photocopy of her passport also. You could also submit a photocopy of her birth certificate and include a cover note.

I would keep everything as it displays on her passport.

When I filled out the Ds 260 I put my mother's name as it appears on her passport which was a different first name as what was on my birth certificate. When I got to the interview and submitted my original birth certificate the lady who handles the document said she had to correct it on the computer to reflect what was on the birth certificate, because that is what they had to go by.

Ok thanks. We will put the name as it shows on his birth certificate. I just hope it's not a discrepancy with what was originally put on the i-130a

It wouldn't be a problem they mostly go with what is on the DS260 anyway. Had my interview in Trinidad in June anything I can help you with just ask.
