My head on my passport photo is 5 mm too big, is that a problem??

basically they give you a threshold where your head in the photo has to be, it has to be in between 1" and 1" 3/8 of an inch , and mine is a little bigger than that.

If you haven't sent the packet in yet, then just re-take or re-print the photo at the specified dimensions, it's not that difficult.  It will save you MONTHS of doubting yourself, and could potentially save your from an RFE.

 

I really don't think they break out a ruler and check the exact dimensions, but it really depends on who adjudicates your case.  Some people are sticklers.  If you've already sent the packet then there's not much to do about it now, but I doubt it will cause you a problem.

We haven't sent the packet yet, but I already took new photos. Now I just have to send them through snail mail...

You mean through snail mail to your fiancé?  Are you the beneficiary?  Why don't you just take digital photos and email them to your fiancé and have him/her print them out at home?  That's what we did, I took digital photos of both of us while I was visiting him, and when I returned home I printed the photos at Walmart--it only takes an hour or less to print.  I did print like 5 different versions, each a little lighter than the last because the photos tend to come out darker when printed, and we used the photos which had been lightened about 80%.  If your fiancé has a printer at home it's even easier.

I just don't know if they are going to mess up the size when they print it out!

There are places that will let you print passport-size photos if you're worried about resizing and cutting them yourself. I had my fiancée email me an image file and then printed it from Walmart.com for $8.
