I hope I'm posting in the right sub-forum, but if not, please re-direct me.

We had out interview on the 9th of August at the Nairobi embassy. The interviewer was very cordial and I really enjoyed the interview. At the end she said I would need my birth certificate sent in and from when they receive it to when I get my passport back, it would be about one-two weeks. I went back to my house and sent my passport along with my birth certificate on the same day and it was received by the embassy the next day. Since then, it's just been a waiting game. It is the worst feeling as the call centre is so unhelpful. The emails are generic. I will keep you guys updated

It says, 'Ready'. I see that for others it goes into AP and then to issued but for ours, it's been 'Ready' since it was received from NVC the Nairobi Consulate. The last update was August 15th and it just says 'ready'.

It will be issued soon. Don't worry. Usually AP as simple as this is resolved within 60 days

You need to have a lot of patience with this process. Keep the faith and goodluck.

I picked up my passport with visa today and the sealed immigration packet. However, they did not send back my original birth certificate. I emailed them but being that the US is celebrating Labor Day on Monday, I will wait to hear what they say on Tuesday. Has anyone had a similar experience and how long should i anticipate it will take for them to send me back my birth certificate?

Secondly, my SO and I are not quite sure whether I should travel immediately or wait a little. My passport is valid until March of 2019.  They say that you need a passport valid for 6 months beyond your intended period of stay. For K1, I assume the intended period of stay is 90 days ( 3 months) meaning I will need a passport valid for about 9 months from when I land in the US. Is that correct?

I went on a Thursday and it was busy. I got there at 7 AM for a 730 AM interview. I was interviewed at about 11: 15 AM. Basically, just plan for the 3-4 hours.

Be sure to dress warmly as it's chilly and sometimes they have you sitting in an open area that is so cold.

The interviewers are quite friendly.

Good luck to you guys!

I had my interview on the 31st of July and the interviewers at the Nairobi embassy are really amazing. I actually had a conversation with my interviewee about how her boyfriend went to college in Maine and she herself she does not like the state. Just amazing group of CO's.

Glad to hear you got your visa. Congratulations 😁
