You guys need to quit hating on Cam.

Cam comes here for the same reason all of us do. He wants to get a visa for a foreigner and needs advice. That's why we're all here. Please, all of you that aren't in the loop with folks from Russia/CIS, check your oppinions at the door. Russia/CIS is completely different from Canada, Australia, and England. Things are different there, and the visa process is different too.

There seems to be a lot of animosity towards guys who are interested in girls from Russia/CIS. I know where that comes from, and I empathize with you ladies for feeling that way. But, you just don't know. So please, before you start "helping" Cam by encouraging him to give up on the treasure trove of women that Russia/CIS has to offer because they're all greencard scam artists, actually give him the advice that he's looking for. And Chuckles, you should be the first one trying to help Cam here, not encouraging him to find another forum. If anything direct him to the Russia forum.

That said, there are a whole bunch of greencard scam artists from there, and Cam has had enough time now to learn how to spot them. (I hope.) If he has found the girl that interests him enough that he is ready to apply for a visa for her... hats off!

Cam, keep coming here to VJ. But please, go to the Russia forum with any questions at all that aren't "broad" visa questions. If they're Russia specific (and that includes anything about your "Russian" girl) post them in the Russia forum. You'll get quick responses there too, and you'll be saved the trouble of waiting on everyone to remove their noses from the air before they "look down" to you and your "Russian" girlfriend.

I'm sorry, but Cam brings it on himself. If he had found someone he truly loved and wanted to bring here, we would all be very happy to help him. That just isn't the case.

How does anyone besides Cam and his sweety know that it's not true love?

Is it because they didn't meet the same way you did? Is it because they don't have the luxury of being granted six month visas every year so they can spend time together? Or is it maybe because Cam selected a pretty girl from an internet website, one of the 50,000+ that are on there looking for a nice man, and e-mailed her through a translator a few times before deciding she was "the one?"

Does that not fit your definition of "true love?"

And if it doesn't.... SO WHAT!!! It doesn't matter to anyone except Cam and his sweety!

Well, if his old posts were still here (prior to the board upgrade), I could show you what I mean. Then you may think differently.

I remember his old posts.

What happened to Cam over the last couple of months was that he has wisened up to the way things work in Russia. Good for him.

My point here is that he is trying to get advice about his visa questions, and everyone (even me, to an extent) is giving him the "Dude, she doesn't love you.... she's just some girl (or, Russian #######) on the internet looking for a greencard and trying to take your money." We shouldn't be saying that to him, we should be trying to answer his questions.

Now, since we are all saying/thinking that he's getting scammed, let me just put this out there too. Many guys "discover" the fact that there are 50,000+ model-looking women trying to find a "rich" Westerner guy to take care of them and they're so excited by this that they jump right in and don't take the time to consider what's going on. That's what happened to Cam in his earlier posts. The girl just wanted him to send her money for this or that. That's a scam. He now knows that, and he's also discovered in the last two months or so that of those 50,000+ girls, there really are some on there who are tired of being treated like $#!^ by guys in their own country and they're ready to come here for a man that will treat them like gold.

Hopefully that's what he has now, and hopefully we can actually help him.

Well, several of us missed that somewhere (Cam wisening up). The only memory I have of Cam is him being on a hell bent search for a foreign bride with love as the least of his worries.

If he was so hell bent on a foreign bride, he could've just gotten one from Canada. Would've been a whole lot easier.

Plus, he could actually get to visit her whenever he wanted and get to spend time together to decide if he was really in "true love" before starting the visa process.

These luxuries are not available with women from Russia/CIS. It is a different process, and it does take time to learn. I hope he's learned it by now.

Just don't forget, that for this russian girl it is not that easy to get work visa. More than 60% denied by consulate. She also can be a student and apply for J1 visa, as I was before.

I don't think she is planning something bad. Cam can be calm about it.

we are all of the same kind
