Me and my wife are thinking about moving to Houston from South Texas, this coming January. Has anybody ever successfully moved and updated their address with USCIS? Will my case be transferred to Houston or will it stay down here in San Antonio for the interview? Anybody ever had a NEGATIVE experience changing address/cities?

hi

there is nothing to worry.it is in the rules if you move to diffrent address you should notify to uscis.you have to call them and they will change your address over the phone or you can do it online from your account but i suggest over the phone is best option and they will send you notification to your new address via mail.yes they will transfer your case to your local uscis centre.

We changed our address TWICE (once to PO Box, second to new home address) with no issues. I kept the PO Box open (even though it's 4 hours away) just in case the change had issues. I called USCIS about two months later and they were able to confirm that the correct address was showing on all 4 case numbers.

Nice seems your AOS moved really fast. When you updated did you update on line or over the phone?

Yeah, we have been very fortunate. I think it really helped that we moved from a high-impact field office (LA) to a less busy one, not that that was on purpose. So even though it took a while at NBC, it was scheduled immediately once it hit the field office.

We stressed a lot about the move and changing addresses because we thought changing would cause delays. That was fortunately not the case.

Both times I updated online. You have to update the address for the I-130 by itself, then update the I-485 plus subforms I-131 and I-765 together. I point this out because it took me too long the first time, as I was trying to do all four at once. Oh, and you have to hit "add" after each line (e.g. enter 485, usc for spouse, case #, zip code, hit "add", then enter 131, etc.) It's a dumb form to figure out, and I can see that as being the reason people have issues.

I got very plain email confirmations the same day. I only received one physical letter in the mail for just the I-130 after the second change. I waited a few weeks before calling to confirm that the changes had been correctly applied.

Thanks.

I would be moving to Houston so I think that would prolong my case
