it matters for tourist visas. you need to have a permanent residence permit (at least this is what they say)

i also expect them to be used to seeing german documents, and not my country's birth certificate or police record etc. so they might give me additional difficulties

We put the same date for when the consulate received the NVC packet to receival of P3 just because we don't actually know when the consulate received the packet. But as you said, all that matters is when you receive P3, which for us was 2 months from NOA2 and 2 weeks after the NVC sent it to the consulate.

About your second post: I for some reason assumed you were going for a K1 visa, so yes depending on the visa it does matter. If you have non-german non-english documents, the consulate will require an official English translation to be done - notably for the birth certificate. Don't do a translation into German, since eventually in the US they will want an English version of documents.

Thanks for the timeline details! It helped me really

Yeah everything will be in English except the German police record. I don't think it needs to be in English right now as I don't have any entries on it

Correct, the police record can be in German, they won't ask for an English translation. It's a little silly because if you have no prior record, the police record is something like 5 pages of nearly emptiness.... but anyway

Mine is just one page. It's green with German eagle from Bundesamt für Justiz. It contains my personal information on top, and in the middle it says "Führungszeugnis über BiAdam", then it says no record.

I went to rathaus, and asked for Führungszeugnis. It costs 13 euros. Do I have the wrong document?

Excuse me for asking many questions, and good luck with your coming interview :)

No, you have the right document, no worries. We mixed it up. Ours is also just 1 green page with the German Eagle.

Thank you, I am excited!
