This is not true.

I met my Indonesian wife through dating app/site. We got our K-1 visa processed with no RFE and rather quick (see our timeline). My older brother also just married and finished his CR-1 visa with his Indonesian wife, whom he met through dating app/site.

I think you took that quote out of context re this thread - did either of your Indonesian wives get tourist visas to visit you as boyfriend/girlfriend before the K1/CR1 visas were done? If so, it might be useful to OP to give a quick outline of what their demonstrated ties to Indonesia were.

Your case is a standard denial. Don’t reapply for a tourist visa. You’ll just waste your money. I don’t see you ever getting a non-immigrant visa in the near future. Go visit him in another country. Family businesses can easily be taken over somewhere else or by someone else.

Dear Friends,

Can anyone help me with my situation.

I'm Chinese-Indonesian girl, almost 29yo. I just got my us visa rejected 214(b) : Failure to establish ties, this morning.

I'm applying B2 visa for tourist, since me n my boyfriend haven't engaged yet.

I'm currently having my own business which i tag along my dad n my sibling in it, that makes me own a family business.

(But for info, this business is my baby since it's all my sweat, tears, n blood {no its not blood, just time}).

I've bring along all the documents needed to show my assets in Indonesia, but the interviewee wont even look at it,

since the documents still on my side, and i've asked to show it to him but he refused.

I've told everything honestly,I even said that since my boyfriend already came to Indonesia for 2 weeks last July,

my Dad only permit me to go to US for only 2 weeks too, just to be fair.

My boyfriend is ABC, he even already sent me invitation letter, which the interviewee didn't see either even i'm already asking to show him.

When the interviewee gave me the red paper, i know for sure i got rejected.

And i asked him immediately before he gave me the paper, why i got rejected.

(Maybe i'm kinda a bit mad when i asked it, since his face was shocked. it's bcoz i chose to be honest, eventhough my friends told me to lie)

The interviewee said it's because:

1. i have a boyfriend in US

2. my business is family business, which makes it looks like i can leave the business easily.

i answer him that i'm the president director of this company, which makes it harder for me to leave it.

and I go to US, so i can meet my boyfriend's family, and bring along his parents to meet my parents in Indonesia.

once again i asked him to see my legal documents, but he said the decision can't be changed.

Please help me figure out another way to reapply the US Visa.

Since i really need to meet my boyfriend's family before we go to more serious relationship.

Thank you for your help, it means a lot for both of us.

God bless

hey sis,

I've been through on the same situation before. I got rejected because I have boyfriend.

Even though, I got invitation letter from his mom, it is still not working.

They suggest you to get K-1 visa instead of tourist visa.

Temenku juga apply visa turis dengan case yang sama juga di tolak, padahal she showed them surat kepemilikan rumah, big amount of rekening koran, it's still not working

It is hard because they want you  just apply for K1 visa (fiancee visa). At the end I applied for that instead

Yes, they both had B2 visas prior applying K-1 or CR-1. My wife used to work in Norway while my now in-law used to work in Australia. As stated on my previous post, for Indonesians travel histories outside ASEAN nations more important than letter invitation or funds.

usmsbow earlier indicated, usually for Indonesian middle class and upper don't have problems obtaining B2 visas.

No, not true.  If a person is caught committing material misrepresentation, it results in a LIFETIME ban from ever entering the US.....it is always better to answer truthfully when dealing with immigration.

Also, lying is wrong. It's better to be honest and unashamed than always hiding something in all situations, including immigration.

Thank you for posting relevant info re the tourist visa - confirms OP unlikely to get visa due to travel history, I can't possibly comment on apparent discrimination by class - i presume what you actually mean is that wealthier people can show more assets/ties and/or have better jobs and more to lose by going illegal, and therefore are more likely to get visas, which is true of most countries and not just Indonesia.

Meeting a USC (American Citizen) through a dating app is a flag. Wonder if you've also met Indonesian men thru that app?

Plus, Indonesia is a culturally conservative country, the world's largest muslim nation I think. COs know that, and may look at a 29-yr old single female travelling alone to visit a US boyfriend with suspicion. You'd be viewed as an overstay risk.

Completely wrong. So many people meet through apps or other online means. Actually, almost all single people I know here in the US use apps and dating sites for finding a new partner, this is becoming the norm, the standard way to date.

You are correct; people do meet through apps in the 21st century.

My point was.. a single female overseas, meeting a USC, via an app, would raise a flag, in the eyes of a CO.

I think your point was all of that taken into account when applying for a tourist visa? A point people seem to miss when they get offended.

Nope. Maybe 70% (or more) of VJ couples have met online, among them many have met on an app. No problem whatsoever.

No problem for what? There are tons of posts on VJ from people like this being refused tourist visas to meet their boyfriend/girlfriend, even some on VWP being turned back at the POE.

Based on our own experience with family members came to visit us, having travel history to another countries outside ASEAN helps to obtain B1/B2 from Indonesia. As we posted previously, our family members all have Schengen and UK visas with lost of travel histories. Just like OP, they owned family businesses. Only one of the relatives was asked to show $10K funds in the bank account.

Thank you for this suggestion, but i think its unrelevant to show it anymore.

since i already brought every documents needed, and i even brought my assets documents, and bank accounts, but the CO didnt even wanna see it.

The amount money in my bank accounts are not the problem, it's the fact that i have a boyfriend who's settled too in US what makes them scared.

N if i were the CO, i would be afraid too since i have probability to buy assets in US, which makes it even scarier for them that i will overstay.

n for the countries, i admit that i never been to europe, but i've been to several countries, especially outside ASEAN,

while europe is the ONLY continent that i haven't touched yet.

(This subject is uncomfortable to me, since i dont feel like to brag my status around)

So currently, we're decided to do immigration visa in the future, but for now its still not near future.

ooh, tq for the good info..

we might gonna ask some suggestions in future if it's ok with u.

hope ur families r doing well.

For info, my boyfriend is in california too.

just to help this, she told me that her friend is rich (middle n high class) n had a chance to show it to the CO, but still got rejected.

which means, my answer before saying that the more assets we own in Indonesia just make the CO afraid that we might gonna buy property in US.

yes, and i disagree with usmsbow actually. but still thankful for the suggestion.

while he didn;t know my economical status either to point out that sentence.

ok,its just for info.

The CO didnt asked me how do i know my boyfriend.

the fact that my boyfriend in US n his job is settle are the main reason if i try to see from the CO point of view.

my summary for all this problem is to forget about the NIV n just do travelling with the US bf/gf to third countries, which visa also easy for both.

n if the couple could just try to meet the parents thing in the vacation countries.

it might help if the applicant is still working as an employee.

economical status is not a big major, but for the lower class is gonna be even harder since they might gonna try to seek for a better job/life in US,

which the COs r trying to avoid.

since my last answer, i've already made a statement to my boyfriend, that my CO was only trying to do his job.

n he might be responsible for the decisions he made, so if someone made NIV n married in US, its gonna be his problem too.

he might see that im not lying, but he cant risk his job too.

n for that i'm not blaming him at all, i was just shocked.

n i'm so grateful for this forum to help me to make this conclusion and plans.

i read all the answers, n we will try to learn more about the immigration visa.

i hope my summary can help others who got the same problems.

God bless u all
