Meeting a USC (American Citizen) through a dating app is a flag. Wonder if you've also met Indonesian men thru that app?

Plus, Indonesia is a culturally conservative country, the world's largest muslim nation I think. COs know that, and may look at a 29-yr old single female travelling alone to visit a US boyfriend with suspicion. You'd be viewed as an overstay risk.

Through the same app? yes i did met Indonesian guy, but i think we didnt go along quite well since he stopped contacting me too.

i also met some guys from other nations.

the fact that my boyfriend is from US doesnt made me want him more, it actually a fact that i usually said to my boyfriend might gonna be a problem for us,

n it happened to be true now (i think i jinx it)

its true, about the largest muslim country, that's what makes me scared to apply the visa too.

But for info, i'm not muslim, i didnt dressed like muslim.

But they actually didn't asked my religion.

But the interviewee saw the egypt, israel, n jordan stamps, which i told him it's for my pilgrimage

i was just hoping he understands the message.

it proofs that lying is better than telling the truth.

but i was just kinda scared to lie since i know i'm too expressive to lie, they'll easily figure it out.

Whatever thought you had about lying to the IO, it's a good thing you did not act upon it. It would make you sad to not be able to visit your boyfriend but you have to understand that the IO has to look at every applicant as intended immigrants and you did not prove sufficient ties to your home country.

You could have easily stayed on your tourist visa (if you were approved) and marry your boyfriend, then apply to adjust status.....many have done this before you.

my friends told me the same thing too, they said i shouldn't said i got boyfriend in US, i better just said that i'll go travelling alone, since the work is kinda hectic nowadays, and just get refresh myself  bit.

but im kinda too scared to lie.

You have to understand COs do this for a living. They interview hundreds or thousands of applicants, and catch a lie pretty quickly.

If you hadn't mentioned a US boyfriend, how else would you have responded to "purpose of US visit"?

In FY 2017, Indonesia's B visa refusal rate was only 10.99%.  I think if you can show stronger ties to your country, you might be successful in a few months.

Please don't give someone false hope. There is very little chance she's going to get a visa. I realize that 11% sounds pretty low, but I suspect that is because not too many Indonesians apply for visas, and those that do are pretty well off. The OP does not fit that description. The only Indonesians I know that got tourist visas were either middle class (or higher) by US standards and/or were over 60 years old. A single 29 year old who works for the family business? Yeah, good luck!

The OP isn't Muslim (probably), and regardless, plenty of Indonesian women travel alone to the US. Indonesia might be predominately Muslim, but it is also quite different from the Arab world. Her economic status is the primary cause for her being turned down.

Good luck. I don't have much to suggest other than maybe if you got a Schengen visa (for the EU) or one for Japan or South Korea, you might have better luck next time with a US tourist visa. Also, there is a rumor that Surabaya is an easier consulate than Jakarta, but I don't know how accurate that rumor is.

My now-wife also had no shot at getting a tourist visa for the US, so we went the K-1 route. Thankfully everything worked out!

Unfortunately they probably believe you will stay in the US and not return. Having strong ties to your country is necessary and the Officer did not feel you had enough ties this needs to be presented through ds160.

If you reapply soon you will probably get denied as well. Unfortunately for many countries it isn’t that easy to get a tourist visa. I would suggest your bc visits you in your country or meet in a third country-if you are planning to get engaged/married/eventually immigrate to US.

Just to share as well- my now husband had no shot of getting a tourist visa as well. I wanted him to be able to meet my family before we got engaged- unfortunately that didn’t happen and we got engaged in his country and went the k1 route. If it is meant to be it will happen- just don’t count on visiting the US before you immigrate in my opinion (and if you decide to go that route😃)

As others said, do not misrepresent yourself.

If you applied for the tourist visa again, soon after the denial, and then turned around and said you didn't have a US boyfriend----keep in mind that your previous interview answers and your previous form is still on the record-----so very easy for a CO to unravel a new story and then present you with a ban.

Yes, as others have said, lying to make yourself look better to the CO or to "increase" your chances of approval is NEVER a good idea. They can research our backgrounds very well. If they find out you lied, you can be banned for LIFE from entering the US. I am sure you would rather be denied than to be banned for life.

When a consular officer interviews someone applying for a tourist visa, the consular officer has the presumption that the applicant IS attempting to overstay and move into the US improperly. It is the always responsibility of the applicant to overcome that presumption.

Based on our own experience with family members came to visit us, having travel history to another countries outside ASEAN helps to obtain B1/B2 from Indonesia. As we posted previously, our family members all have Schengen and UK visas with lost of travel histories. Just like OP, they owned family businesses. Only one of the relatives was asked to show $10K funds in the bank account.

This is not true.

I met my Indonesian wife through dating app/site. We got our K-1 visa processed with no RFE and rather quick (see our timeline). My older brother also just married and finished his CR-1 visa with his Indonesian wife, whom he met through dating app/site.
