you have up to one year after arrival to pay the fee.

Yes i just want to know if we can just pay the fee when im already in the u.s and nik say i have 1year after arrival to pay the fee.

Well you can delay it as long as you want afaik, but I guess the 1 year is based on the expiration of the temporary I551 you get when you land - so if you take longer than that you have no valid proof of your status.

You can pay after arrival.  Like I said you have a year. Trust me that the USCIS will bug you about it before then.  LOL

Yes but not 1year. We will pay rightaway when i get there to u.s

Awesome, the green card will be produced after payment is routed to your case.  Generally takes 1-6 months.

It's 1-6 months after entry or payment whichever comes after.  It doesn't matter if you pay before or right after arrival.   Generally it's about the 1 month range.  Your endorsed visa becomes a temporary I-551 (greencard) upon arrival so anything you need a green card for, that works.  Rarely does it take longer than 1-2 months after entry (or payment.)

Timeline

My husband arrived the 4th of August and has the temporary I551 stamp. We plan on paying the green card fee next month. He crossed POE without paying the fee without issue. His Social Security card came a week later (I thought that would be after paying the GC fee, but I guess not).
